19th century kagamibuta (“mirror lid”) netsuke with copper top engraved with Daruma screaming and waving his hands. Excellent design, wonderful use of katakiribori - carving technique recreating brush strokes used in sumi ink drawings - see finely chiseled lines of his robe. With the almost square seal plate and the type of handle this seal is the proto-type of the later Neo-Hittite seals, but this one much earlier. The base engraved with a large Deer with large Antler and on top, a smaller stag or horned animal, and a 3rd. animal in the corner, perhaps a hunting dog.

Very unusual 19th century metal ojime (slide bead for tightening the cord going from netsuke to inro) in a shape of tokkuri (sake bottle) inside a wooden box, just the way sake is served in traditional restaurants in Japan. Very clever design in Japanese wabi-sabi taste, beautiful crisp work - see the texture of the box. Bronze with excellent gilding, great patina. Height 9/16 inches.

Early 19th century Japanese sword knife (kozuka) handle made of sentoku (alloy consisting of copper, zinc and tin) with inlaid scene of two birds on the riverbank by rocks, grasses and a woven rattan container with stones - such bundles were used for shoring riverbanks during floods. Excellent quality mixed metals inlays, wonderful crisp work. Some indents to the narrow sides from usage, otherwise in very good condition. Length 3 13/16 inches.
This exciting little piece is a grey pottery urn from the Han Dynasty of ancient China (206 BC - 220 AD). It has a plain but elegant shape with incised line decoration. The surface has light soil encrustations and traces of root fibers from extended burial. There are no signs of repair or restoration. It measures just under 13 cm in height and weighs 618 grams.
