18th century small votive Indian bronze sculpture depicting Shridevi - a form of Lakshmi, the consort of Lord Vishnu representing Wealth - with bare breasts and holding an open blue lotus (nilotpala) in her left hand. Very nice casting - see her gracious figure with the slightest bent at the waist and one foot placed in front of the other, beautiful warm patina, high devotional wear, overall in great condition for a votive piece. Height 2 1/4 inches.

This small hand painted picture on cloth, called a Tsakli was used for Buddhist religious instruction and rituals in Tibet. The back of the card has Tibetan writing...Obvious condition issues...This card and others listed on this site were all antique cards when they were brought out of Tibet in the 60's...roughly 3.75 x 3.5 inches

Both pieces, the white glazed small miniature ewer and the very well potted jarlet of globular form are very rare and belong to the earliest Dehua ware pieces of the Song Dynasty. Elegant Chinese Jian hare's fur tenmoku chawan made during the Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279). Looking inside this Tenmoku chawan is like glazing deep into the cosmos. There one can understand the meaning of microcosm and ask whether one is looking inward or outward; probably both.

The deep rounded sides rising from a short straight foot to a lipped rim, covered overall in a carmine-red glaze falling short of the foot and thinning to brown at the mouth-rim...
