A gunpowder horn dating to the 19th / early 20th century. The slightly curved body is made from water buffalo horn, the wide end with a stopper, a zoomorphic closing mechanism and a small iron suspension lug. A 12.75" late 17th century Kakiemon vase and cover decorated in iron-red, green, yellow and black enamels on underglaze blue, the body with a profusion of chrysanthemum, peony and cherry blossoms and foliage emerging from rockwork, the shoulder with alternate bands of lappets, hanabishi and karakusa, the neck and the foot with a continuous band of lappets, the cover similarly decorated.

Antique Japanese fine lacquered kogo box for holding incense. Comprised of 3 stacking compartments, the lower of which has a gilt copper lining. The overall shape is that of a textile knot (musubi) with ornate patterns in gold takamaki-e on black and nashiji lacquer. Signifying strength and resilience, bamboo—together with pine and plum (sho chiku bai)—is an auspicious symbols running through the heart of Japanese art and culture. The young bamboo depicted here—sprouting from a patch of rocks—were composed by one of the most renowned and loved waka poets of the 19th century, Ōtagaki Rengetsu (1791-1875).

Rengetsu was born into a Samurai family but was soon after adopted by the Ōtagaki family...

This is a well-painted double-sided erotic miniature, 19th century or earlier. The painting has slight staining and is affixed to a paper frame (slightly torn, as shown in the photographs)by the edges of the manuscript, not impinging on the painting(s) themselves. Possibly from a Kama Sutra text, or the Gulistan. The leaf measures 4-1/4" X 7". Gold highlights.

Japanese Imari Porcelain Double Gourd shape Vase, Ca. Meiji period, 1868-1912, 12" high, 1 3/8" diameter-top rim, 7" wide-widest section, 4" diameter-bottom rim, flying Phoenix bird and dragon inside four(4) separate round circles, and Mon design inside the top round circles, all decorate with typical overglaze red and underglaze blue, highlight in gold. Top rim has rough area with old tiny frit.

Incredible Japanese highly bronze figure of three playful puppies. One falling onto his back, another laying in the middle and the last one climbing over him. They are all very finely detailed. The artist's signature on the bottom of the middle puppy. Very well done with exquisite detail.

This is a very nice pottery vessel from the Ban Chiang culture in ancient Thailand, Udon Province (circa 200 BC). It has very intricate, geometric designs typical of Ban Chiang pieces. The designs are both incised into the clay and then painted. Incised and painted, pedestaled pottery is one of the rarest types. As with most ancient pottery, this piece has been professionally restored from large fragments. It is roughly 18cm tall. Pieces such as this regularly sell for over $1000...

Five Dynasties Yue "MISE" bowl decorated with incised flower motive at the center. Bowl has a crack at center rimand glaze degradations. Free from any restorations. 17,5cm diameter.

Pair of Chinese Blue and White Rectangular Trays. Each decorated with a tied bunch of flowering peony and other plants. Qianlong C1760/70. Diameter 23.3cm. Condition: excellent, one 0.15cm frit to rim, a little light glaze crazing to one tray.

Arita hard porcelain dish. The decoration is painted with stylized flowers in underglaze cobalt blue and enamelled with medallions. The edge is coated with a thick chocolate brown enamel, typical. Japanese work from the end of the 17th century or the beginning of the 18th. It is a rare artistic model. Below a mark drawn in blue and traces of pernettes. Good condition. Some enamel skids. Diameter 195mm.
