Rare early 20th century Yi minority lacquered box constructed from leather. I purchased this piece in a Bai minority, weekly market in Yunnan near Dali around 2002. I assume this is now an extinct craft no longer being done because of the availability of cheap plastic items as well as the migration of artisans to better paying jobs in the city. Very minor lacquer losses on the edge. Excellent condition. H: 5cm/2in

Beautiful half cylinder shaped (hanzutsu) tea bowl from the early stage of the Edo Period (1603 - 1868) with a rounded brim, made of iron bearing, coarse, unrefined Narumi Mino clay. The expertly thrown body was trimmed with a potter's knife in its lower part.

This is a beautiful Japanese porcelain teapot. It has been Meticulously hand painted and the quality is similar to that found with Hirado, Makuzu Kozan or the best Fukagawa pieces. It meaures 8 inches across and is 7 inches tall. Condition is excellent.

A lovely Shino tea bowl fashioned from coarse Mino clay and covered in a crackled feldspar glazing. The front of the bowl is decorated with paintings of abstract foliage—possibly the lilting leaves of a willow tree—and the base of the bowl is unglazed, displaying rough clay. The paintings, which are applied using a ferrous glaze, along with the han-zutsu shape (half cylinder) are very typical of this type of Shino-ware...

Rare Song - Yuan dynasty longquan celadon big single fish dish, rounded side with flattened rim and glazed base, dish decorated with big single fish motif at interior, outer wall with raised lotus petal motif, covered with golden green glaze.
Dish is in good condition no crack, no chip, no restoration, porcelain with good ping sound with finger tip.

Mayan Decorated Cylinder. 10 ¼” x 4 1/4” Circa 600 A.D. – 900 A.D. A tall, polychrome decorated vase having a wide center band two large Moan birds, a sea shell. Upper band of well developed, painted glyphs. Wide lower band containing four large circlular elements. Repaired from several large original pieces. Some areas of root marks minor paint loss.

Small shrine with the sculpture of Kishimojin, the hands folded in prayer. Plain wood with nice patina, the pupils painted black. On the back inscription in black ink. On the right door of the case inscription in black ink: Angyo Kishimosonjin, the name of the temple and the donor. The inscription on the back of the sculpture is partly the same, indicating that sculpture and case came together. Japan, early 19th century.
