Pair of early 19th century Japanese sword menuki depicting lobsters on a bed of sea weeds. One menuki has Daikoku mallet on top (stands for wealth), and the other a character meaning long life. Excellent work with great detailing - see various textures of the shells. Bronze with coppery patina, gilded water drops on the sea weeds, overall in great condition. Length 1 9/16 inches.

19th century or earlier Japanese sword set of fuchi (bordering piece between the sword guard and the handle) and kashira (metal pommel at the end of the hilt of a sword) with bronze body and multimetal decoration of pine groves and a crane in flight on the background of Mount Fuji with snow capped summit and wispy clouds. Excellent sharp quality work, gold and silver inlays, in great condition. Kashira length 1.37 inches, fuchi length 1.5 inches.

It is amazing that about half of the snuff still remains in this bottle. Lacking a stopper, it was stuffed with tissue when we received it. We added the stopper for display purposes. The scene surrounding the bottle depicts a person riding a buffalo towards a mountain range while pointing behind him to the man with an umbrella. The bottle has a network of crackles stained over to a pale brownish tone. There are some pin pricks from firing, maybe bits of ash. Dates 1800s. 3 inches high.

This is Sakai-Sarasa used for Edo period. Sarasa of a small pattern is rare. The warm feel does this. As for this, cotton is spun by hand and is thick. This does not have a stain and damage. Size 155cm x 33.5cm (61 "x 13.1")

Hotei is one of the 7 Gods of Good Luck and incarnation of Maitreya - the Buddha of the future, and is liked by children. The style of the furniture and its quality suggest that it is an important wealthy family of the 18th century, without however being of the imperial family because the dragons represented on the dress have only 4 claws. The face is admirably painted, the artist played with the light to give us this living-dead head and yet it is beautiful without anything macabre. China circa 1800...

This is a rather rare Early 19th century netsuke depicting a book and a hat placed atop a richly decorated stand. Possibly a one-o-a-kind theme. Signed Hidetomo. Netsuke measures 0.75 inches wide (1.9cm), 1.12 inches (2,8cm) long, and 1.27 inches (3.2cm) tall.

This is a Japanese antique excellent silk kinran Weave and hand-embroidery kesa textile of the edo era(1800-1867) . The lining is silk safflower dyed. There are some stains, and a part of the embroidery thread is peeled off. There is a small hole. But they don't stand out. Recommended for your antique textile collection. Late 18th to early 19th century boxwood netsuke of a turtle hiding in its carapace. Excellent detailing - see the incised patterns of the carapace, its legs with scaly pattern leathery skin and horn inlaid eyes. Large deep differently sized himotoshi typical for the period, wonderful warm patina, very pleasant to the touch. This is a finely hand-carved netsuke in Kurogaki (Black Persimmon) wood of a large Seated Hotei with a wide Smile, by an unknown artist from the Iwami Province, carved sometime during the late 18th and early 19th centuries. The carving exhibits similar material and carving characteristics of the region...

Daimyo hikeshi shozoku: Samurai firefighter's wool jacket with a silk velvet collar; the crest and design are couched with gold leaf thread (wrapped around silk thread), chest protector and belt. Excellent, clean condition with some holes and damages in velvet collar. Late Edo period (1603-1868), 50" wide x 39" long, Chest protector, 25 1/4" long.
