19th century staghorn ojime (slide bead for tightening the cord going from netsuke to inro) carved in a shape of a ceramic sake jar with high shoulders and wide top, pierced and decorated with geometric designs. Clever elegant design in Japanese taste, beautiful staghorn texture, in great condition. Height 9/16 inches.

Late Meiji period (1890s to 1912) Japanese wooden kushi (hair comb) with gold lacquer decoration of flowering plants by a meandering stream, design continuing on the back. Beautifully made, subtle design in Japanese taste, superb fine lacquering, in great condition. Length 4.69 inches.

19th century staghorn ojime (slide bead for tightening the cord going from netsuke to inro) carved in a shape of abalone shell. Good design, natural imperfections in staghorn, stained pale red, overall in very good condition. Length 13/16 inches.

19th century rock crystal ojime (slide bead for tightening the cord going from netsuke to inro) in modified egg shape. Does not photograph well. All lines inside the material are not cracks, but natural features of the stone, pleasant patina on the surface. Length 1 inch.

This is an ANTIQUE SATSUMA SMALL VASE from an Eastern Shore of Maryland Estate. The size is 5 3/4" Tall X 2 1/2" at the Widest point. Decorated with Red Enamel and Gilded Highlights, this Vase shows Three Boys at Play on the Bottom. Ca. 1900 - 1925 the Condition is EXCELLENT. JPGS provide more info

19th century Japanese ojime (slide bead for tightening the cord going from netsuke to inro) in a form of a natural fruit pit skillfully carved with 2 scenes of scholars engaged in discussions, all among swirling clouds. Excellent carving in deep relief with precise undercutting and complete piercing of the body of the pit. Very nice mellow brown patina, in excellent condition. Height 1/2 inches.

Three Shishi lions or “Foo dogs”, the guardian animals that used to be placed outside temples and imperial buildings. Two of the three originally formed the knobs of urn lids, the third and smallest is a lid from a miniature incense vessel or urn. Two with aubergine and green/turquoise glaze, the third in crackle-glaze gilt. Height of biggest Foo dog "2¾/ 7 cm, of smallest "1/ 2,5 cm. Condition: the angry, middle-sized dog has got his right back leg restored.

Kataginu, a top part of kamishimo which is a formal wear of samurai, worn over summer kimono. It is made of hemp and vegetable indigo dye. The weaving technique is "mojiri-ori" (warp crossing). Family crest design is faded but in good condition. 19th century. 66cm x 66cm

Late Meiji period (1890s to 1912) Japanese turtle shell kushi (hair comb) with gold and silver lacquer decoration of low flower plants among vaporous golden clouds, design continuing over the ridge onto the other side. Exceptionally well made, excellent lacquering, wonderful work in Japanese taste, some wear and insect damage as can be seen on photos. Length 3.43 inches.

A bag which is hand-plaited with indigo dye hemp string. It is carried on the back with various items. 19th to early 20th century. One string is cut. W:15cm, L:62cm

Beautifully made out of wood with dense texture allowing for very fine teeth, superb fine lacquering, wonderful work in Japanese taste, in excellent condition. Length 4.15 inches.

A woodblock print on washi with 29 ways of wearing tenugui which is the Japanese hand towel made of cotton. It has been using as hand towel as well as hat or scarf. In good condition except for a break in one of the corners. Printed by "Isetatsu which was founded in 1864, very late Edo period in kanda in Tokyo. The second half of the 19th century." 25cm x 37.5cm
