This is a wonderful Meiji Era Satsuma tray from Seikozan. The detail is outstanding but the condition is even better. The condition of this piece is pristine and like new or the day it left the workshop. In fact, this piece is the finest preserved example of Meiji era Satsuma we have ever had. This is a wonderful slender pear shaped bronze vase from the Meiji era (1868-1912. It is highly detailed and decorated with three raised relief elephants. One of the images was deliberately overexposed to show off the fine detail. It has the original patina and is in excellent condition. Early 19th century marine (walrus tusk) netsuke of a standing oni, its foot on rockery, leaning on a huge war club and eating a rice cake, and a puppy at his feet looking wiistfully at the same cake. Wonderful strong early carving, wonderful face, excellent depiction of its muscular arms and legs. Grainy texture of walrus tusk core can be seen at the bottom and on the back of the carving. himotoshi is formed by natural openings in the carving. Height 2.47 inches.

This is Japanese Antique Indigo dye shirushi Hanten coat Maiji. It is thick indigo dye cotton. The lining is very good katazome.It is a hand-spun cotton that is very soft to the touch. It is indigo of nature. It is an impressive motif. There is a little stain. However, there is no damage. The family crest on the back is patchwork.It is very good. Antique Japanese gold lacquer inro with a scene of a waterfall on one side and a sage on the other. The water crashes around rocks where chrysanthemums blossom. On the reverse, a sage sits among the flowers at the base of the falls. The inro case has 4 compartments with interiors covered in a dense nashiji lacquer. The ojime is made of red lacquer and is carved with a dragon. The netsuke is made of boxwood and carved in the shape of a seed pod. Signed.
