A rare Chinese large jar.These jars were originally used for storage of food for trading ships. They were eventually traded to the natives in Southeast Asia, mainly Borneo, and were highly prized. The center of the vase has a relief of two dragon with white claws. Size: H. 70 cm. W.46 cm. Condition: Very good with no repairs.

This two-part buckle is formed with a dragon head clasp on one piece, and the other is slotted for hooking under the dragon's head. Each has a central medallion cast in low relief of a double gourd “magic elixir” bottle. Both pieces are finished with a stylized bat motif. The underside of each has two attached pieces to receive the belt. Much gilding remains on the fronts, though worn. The reverse of each is ungilded and has old natural patina from use...

Description
This polychrome jar is decorated in underglaze blue and overglaze red, green, yellow and brown. This palette is also known as the Wucai style. This style was highly popular during the Ming period. As a result this type of jars usually is dated to the Ming or Transitional periods. However, in view of the porcelain body it more likely dates from the beginning of the reign of the Chinese emperor Kangxi (1662-1722), around 1680. Antique Chinese bronze ding, tripod ritual vessel. Large swooping handles extend from either side of the relief decorated neck. The round body is supported by three feet, each decorated with the head of a horned animal. Great patination and mineral encrustations.

18th century Japanese sword iron tsuba with pierced design of four roundels with crosses among scrolling vines. Crosses may be namban (Christian) symbols or the mon (samurai family crest) of the Shimazu clan of Satsuma province. Excellent early piece with numerous perforations requiring enormous amount of work, precise detailing, gilding, wear and patina consistent with age. Height 3.06 inches, width 2.71 inches.
