A Japanese ivory brush holder carved in bas-relief with festive characters dancing and playing next to an elephant dressed for special occasions.
On the opposite side a large Japanese "Matsu" pine seems to cover and shade the entire scene.
The internal part is entirely patinated bronze with slightly gilded details of the symbols of the chrysanthemum and the pauwlonia flower, two symbolic elements linked to the emperor and the Tokugawa clan.

Antique Korean Bandaji known as a blanket storage trunk, made of a heavy Red Pine wood with a deep rich original patina. A single door is hinged horizontally and opens downward to reveal a large compartment for storage. Though these trunks were used for storage of household items, bedding was usually folded and placed on top, thus giving them the name blanket storage trunk.

An antique Japanese Ryo Biraki Tansu made of Suginoki (Cryptomeria) wood. All original hand forged iron hardware including the Warabite handles and the natural Urushi lacquer. The two hinged doors hide 6 drawers of varying sizes. Constructed using straight dovetail Japanese joinery and hardened wooden nails.

The first of these molds depicts a Makara surrounded by floral swirls. It measures 3-1/4" in both height and width. The second shows an animal face or mask and measures 1-3/4" in both height and width. Rubberized impressions included for both.
Chinese Ming dynasty Wanli period guan form jar with wide shoulders tapering to an unglazed foot and glazed, slightly recessed base decorated in underglaze blue with lotus flowers and scrolling foliage on a white ground. A marvelous oval shaped Chinese tortoise shell box with enameling featuring a bamboo and floral pattern with auspicious symbols on a carved top and the side bands. An interior mirror under the fitted lid shows some age related wear. The tortoise shell is in excellent antique condition, no cracks and there is no visible loss to the enamel. This is a rare treasure which displays beautifully. Measures 6 inches long, 5" wide, 1.5 inches high. Circa 1880.
