A large figure of the Daruma in celadon glaze by Teishitsu Gigei-in Suwa Sozan I set on to a rosewood stand and enclosed in the original signed wooden box. The beautifully carved face and feet are in raw, burnt clay, the rest is entirely robed in pale green. It is 18.5 x 16.5 x 36cm (7-1/4 x 6-1/2 x 14 inches) plus the stand and is in excellent condition, signed inside with his koban shaped oval seal...

A large antique 19th century Indian Hindu temple puja bell or Ghanta the janus handle with figures of the monkey God Hanuman and Garuda. The bowl engraved with two elephants and zebu bull and floral pattern and scrolls.

CONDITION: Showing age and usage, handle slightly bent the figures appear to be well worn from ritual use and handling with nice old patina. In working order - sounds good!

The head of the Buddha, carved with benevolent expression, almond-shaped eyes, fragmentary pierced elongated earlobes, straight triangular nose, his hair arranged in rows of stylized curls. This extremely hard to find pre-Khmer piece dates back to circa 350 AD, probably Khrom. Made of black hard stone it is 7 In (17 cms) height of the piece mount not included. A Japanese boxwood netsuke depicting Shojo crouched in a typical posture, with his hand resting on his knee, while sleeping from the effects of too much sake, the kimono is finely carved with geometric motifs as well as the long hair on the back. Similar examples of the Nagoya carvers are illustrated in Meinertzhagen, MCI, p.844, Davey, MTH, p.189, no.570 and Lazarnick, NIA, p. .1063. Edo period 19th century Sizes: 3,3 x 2,7 x 2,6 cm. Chinese Yixing Zisha Serving Set Dishes. Good conditions. 41 cm diameter.

This plain pot metal vessel was used to contain hair oil during the reign of Chinese Emperor Daoquang about 1850. Standing about 6 inches high and 3.5 inches diameter at the widest point, a woman would dip her comb into the oil before combing her hair. I do have an identical matched pair of these but am selling them separately.

19th century staghorn ojime (slide bead for tightening the cord going from netsuke to inro) carved in a shape of a ceramic sake jar with high shoulders and wide top, pierced and decorated with geometric designs. Clever elegant design in Japanese taste, beautiful staghorn texture, in great condition. Height 5/8 inches.

Pichhwai, temple painting, of Radha and Krishna in the Garden, Kishangarh Style, this Hindu scene of the God Krishna and his beautiful consort, the Goddess Radha takes place in a lush garden. The sacred mountain rises up behind them and as the two figures embrace at the opening to a cave.

At the top of the mountain sits a white palace and the sky is filled with 6 bird-shaped celestial chariots toward the it...

Hanging scroll. The eight-armed deity, bearing arms and jewels, and a coiled snake (the deity Ugajin) on her head, sits on a lotus-leaf-seat, flanked by Daikoku. Before her are the 15 disciples, or jugo doji. Ink, mineral colors, gold and gofun on silk. Japan, Edo period, 18th century.

Early 20th century Chinese horn cylindrical seal with very elegantly and crisply carved Chinese characters on the base and traces of red seal paste in the grooves. The impression of the seal is shown on Enlargement 1. Beautiful dark dense horn, natural imperfections in the material. Mellow patina, overall in very good condition. Very nice object for scholar’s table. Height 2 3/16 inches, diameter 9/16 inches.

A extremely decorative large Jar. Five Dynasties ( 618 - 906 ) with five lug handles and a bold 2 dragons design. Very nice typical Five Dynasties glaze. H : 28 cm. Condition : No chip, no crack, a small insignificant inconspicuous repair to one of the five lugs.

19th century or earlier Japanese sword set of bronze fuchi (bordering piece between the sword guard and the handle) and kashira (metal pommel at the end of the hilt of a sword) with low relief design of chidori (plovers) in flight over the cresting waves. Excellent quality work, gilding, beautiful wear. Kashira length 1.4 inches, fuchi length 1.5 inches.

Pair of Meiji (1868-1912) Japanese Satsuma Square Shaped Vase with Geisha & Karako Marked "Shizan Zo" 司山製

They are 6.5 inches (16.5 cm) tall by 2.6 inches (6.6 cm) wide. They weigh 1.75 Lb.

One vase has a flea bite chip at one corner of the lip. They have rubbing of gold and surface wears (as seen in the photos).
