Two different pipes, the bowls made of Tophane clay embellished with gilding or gilded metal rim. The stems ar made of wood ending in a horn mouthpiece. One with mark. Condition: one bowl was broken in two and the other one with two chips. Dimension: total length: 35 cm and 16 cm.

A gunpowder horn dating to the 19th / early 20th century. The slightly curved body is made from water buffalo horn, the wide end with a stopper, a zoomorphic closing mechanism and a small iron suspension lug. The gunpowder was stored in the Batak house in large gourds, the chief carried his own personal supply in such containers, which he wore suspended from a chain around his neck. Condition: the closing mechanism plug was broken ( now glued) and has losses...

An antique Japanese merchant money storage box made entirely of Suginoki (Cryptomeria) wood. Single drawer with hand forged iron hardware including the Warabite handle. Used by a merchant to keep coins, IOU's, and yen currency for daily business use. Original iron corner reinforcements adds strength and durability to this box.

Pair of 19th century Japanese sword menuki each depicting one closed and one open hozuki (Chinese lantern fruit). Fantastic work with great detailing. Differently colored patinas, gold inlaid spots, in perfect condition. Length 1.25 inches.

A very pretty Chinese hand painted underglaze blue planter with double walled side panels. In very good condition with the exception of one corner which was broken and glued back into position. Enlargements of this areas provided, see last photo. It measures 9" long x 6.25" wide x 2" high. Dates late Qing.

A fine Arita awabi-gata o-zara abalone shaped dish made primarily for the Japanese market decorated with a textile style pattern featuring blocks of hanabishi brocade juxtaposed with the auspicious Shochilubai, three friend of winter. Most unusually rather than the more typical green enamel brocade band this example has an Aka-e kinrande nindou-mon brocade band. 19th century kagamibuta (mirror lid) netsuke, the top being Chinese carving adopted as netsuke, with deeply undercarved scene of 4 scholars among trees and pavilions. Wonderful crisp carving, great wear and patina, overall in great condition, beautiful rosewood bowl with rich warm colors, freely rotating wooden peg on the back for hanging. Diameter 1 11/16 inches.

Excellent opium pipe stem cleaner, fine condition and all original parts. Bamboo sheath, iron cleaning rod and copper opium poppy pod shaped finial handle. Circa late Qing Dynasty. Total length 54cm/21.2in.
