Small figurine representing Kuan Yin, the Buddhist Goddess of Mercy, in formal attire and wearing elaborate diadem and necklaces, flanked by two worshippers, standing on an elevated throne in front of which a lion head is showing in relief. Bronze, with dark reddish-green patina. China, Northern Wei or Sui Dynasty. Height: 2 3/4" (7 cm). Abrasion due to great age, otherwise good condition. An extremely rare object.

A cover composed of several pieces, lined with green fabric. Blue ground with brocaded boteh pattern in metal wrapped threads. Provenance: a gentleman's collection, Geneva - Switzerland. Condition: wear - mostly only the yellow silk core left. Short parts of selvages undone, one small mend, two small holes, few thin areas . Dimension: 92 cm x 125 cm.

A very small Chinese celadon porcelainous-stoneware water pot. Late Song or Yuan dynasty Longquan type. Good condition with weathered surface. 13th century. Height, about 1 5/8 inches. Diameter about 2 1/8 inches.

Antique Japanese bronze vase of a stout, round form with tiny handles and a round, shallow opening. It has areas of deep red and blackish pigment in a weblike, splatter pattern. It comes with a beautiful wooden box, with an artist's stamp and black kanji. Size: 8.5" height, 7" width

Sankampaeng pottery brown glazed jar.

Sankampaeng is a Northern Thai ceramic which kilns were found in Chiangmai province.

Seal ring, its bezel of square shape with an incised design representing a helmeted king riding a "lamassu". Bronze, with partly encrusted reddish-green patina. Mesopotamia, Neo-Assyrian Empire, 10th to 7th century B.C. Bezel dimensions: 18 x 18 mm. Height of the ring: 24 mm. Inside diameter: 18 mm. Good condition. NOTE: a lamassu is a protective deity having a human head, the body of a bull or a lion, and sometimes wings.

A perfectly potted Daoguang famille rose dish, finely painted with a harbor scene depicting the Teng Wang Ge, a pavilion noted for its famous view located in Nanchang, the capital of Jiangxi province, on the banks of the Gan River 60 km south of the Yangtze River. The pavilion built in 653 AD by Li Yuanying was made famous in the poem "Teng Wang Ge Xu" written by the renowned poet of the Tang era, Wang Wei (701-763), also in a Preface to Teng Wang Pavilion by the artist Wang Buo...

Antique Japanese painting of a tiger crouched on a rock, his eyes are turned toward the full moon which shows itself through the branches of a pine tree, beautiful detail especially to the tiger with his enormous paws, painted in sumi ink on paper, signed. antique frame without glass. Meiji Period. Size of painting only: 52" high x 23 1/2" wide. Size including frame: 56 1/4" high x 29 1/4" wide

Chinese Rose Verte Yanyan Vase. Decorated with panels of birds among flowers and rocks, kingfisher, lotus, lion dogs and figures in a landscape. On a powder blue ground. Base with a four character Kangxi mark. 19thC. Height 18 11/4" (46.4cm). Condition; neck leans slightly and firing fault inside rim. Glaze frits to edge of base. No cracks, chips or restoration.

 

A Fukagawa porcelain 9 1/2 inch dinner plate. Iris decoration from Chuji Fukagawa's own 19th century design book. Blue underglaze and red, yellow and gold overglaze enamel decoration including random butterflys. Mt. Fuji mark inside the foot ring. Late Meiji or early Taisho. Good condition. Priced for each dinner plate, there were five available in good condition when listed. We are happy to quote a group price or entertain an offer for all available pieces we have in this pattern.

A Dayak sword - Mandau - with rattan bound deer antler handle in the form of a finely carved zoomorphic (possibly deer's) head. The iron blade is engraved with stylized scrolling vine decoration. This item was made (and used) during either the 19th or very early 20th Century. Condition: very good, but the sword is without its scabbard and the bade has seen much use, having many nicks to the cutting edge; also much of the decorative brass inlay to the blade is missing...
