Fine & Rare Large Chinese Yuan Dynasty Burnished Black Pottery Horse

This impressive and attractive pottery model of a horse was made during the Yuan Dynasty (AD 1279 - 1368). Such figures from the Yuan Dynasty are very distinctive and are particularly rare and desirable. The surface of these figures is typically fired to grey, or almost black, and sometimes, as in this case, burnished to a smooth finish.

The horse is laden with a pack on its back, on top of which is tied a tiger skin...

A gilt plaque from Han Dynasty was perfectly preserved.
It was being well transformed as a Bolo tie by ex-collector.

Cast bronze mirror holder representing a Ki-Lin. The fabulous Chinese animal is surrounded by sparks, it carries a cloud on its back which is used to hold a removable mirror, which has now disappeared. The unusually small dimension leads one to assume that this is a travel mirror holder? The animal is lying down and the sculptor has modeled an exaggeratedly wide hindquarters to give good stability to the whole...

This is a green glaze celadon bowl from Sung Dynasty or earlier , it is repaired on the edge of the rim , glaze still shining and very nice study piece for your private museum sampling...

Song Dynasty brown glaze jarlet with four ears. There is no damage other than the glaze degradation due to age. Cavities near base occured during time of its making. Dimensions: 3.5 inches high and 3.5 inches diameter at widest.

This is the type of early Mei-Ping flask which was used in the 1,300’s to 1,400’s by the Chinese to transport mercury for trade to be use in gold mining operations. They measure 6.5 to 7.5 inches high and were found in the port of Tuban, Indonesia on an unknown shipwreck. This particular piece has an un-repaired crack in the body but is intact.

A Yuan Qingbai Jar with three lugs. Height approximately 4.4 cm and diameter approximately 5.1 cm. Good condition.

A genuine antique KHMER LIME POT, 12-14th Century, Iron-Brown with incised motifs and horizontal ringed ribbing towards the top/neck. Size: 5" diameter x 3" height (13 cm x 7.75 cm). Condition overall good, no cracks/hairlines nor leaking, but several body chips and on the neck/lip as shown in the photographs.

Rare “kiln waster” possibly from the Qingliangsi Kiln, Baofeng, Henan- see reference in last enlargement. D: 11.8cm/4.7in and H: 4cm/1.6in. Very shiny black glaze. There is one star crack on the side as well as “slag” adhesions on the rim. Please examine enlargements. May still be used for tea ceremony if you don't mind a little "wabi sabi"

This antique Islamic footed cosmetics makeup kohl jar dates back to the 11th-12th century (Medieval). It is made of bronze and comes from Khorassan. The jar is designed in the form of a small bottle, with a compressed body and a long-tapered neck. It is adorned with two incised rings and a wide flared lip and rests on four legs with bent feet. Bronze kohl vessels of this shape were widely used in the Near East from ancient times, specifically the Luristan Bronzes...

South Sulawesi excavated Annamese bowl, decorated with simple drawing of fungus scrolls to exterior and a chrysanthemum blossom to interior center in underglazed blue under creamy ivory glaze. Vietnam late 14th to early 15th century. Condition is good near perfect, minor glaze slight flaking, only found a tiny chip to rim and re-touch till invisible for free service, note; glaze slight Diameter: 16.2cm.
