This late 19th C. or early 20th C. carved hard stone water bowl for painters or scholars is about 2 inches high, 5 ½ inches long and 4 ¾ inches wide. The water bowl is carved as a double plum blossom; a lucky bat, two smaller blossoms and leaf are on the side. The lucky bat and plum blossom represent bravery, strength and longevity in Chinese culture. The workmanship is simple and elegant. It is in excellent condition.

Pair of 19th Century Japanese lacquer miniature composition masks representing living ("Iki" living figures) expressive faces, with ivory teeth, glass eyes and human hair. They have an arresting presence and are a great study of portraiture, representing fine Japanese craftsmanship. 5 inches (12.5cm) x 4.25 inches (11cm) wide (each). From a widely renowned and published collection that has been exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum and Japan Society.

Geyao cup in a very nice Song Dynasty inspired shape. Seventeenth century. The brown clay to the base seems to be the original grey stoneware which turned to a dark brown during the firing process. It seems not just to be a brown slip which covers the unglazed body to the base which would be typical for Qing pieces their intention it is to pretend a Song Dynasty piece. Diameter : 5 cm. H : 3,6 cm. Condition : One restored chip.

An Example of Song dynasty longquan celadon dish with double fish motif, rounded side with flattened rim and glazed base, dish decorated with double fish motif at the center and rising lotus petal motif at outer wall, dish covered with slightly different glaze color tone. The Chinese Tang Dynasty iron stele is 7 ½ inches tall and 5 ½ inches wide. A Buddhist design is on one side; calligraphy is on reverse. Most of the calligraphy has worn off, but some characters are still legible. It looks like it was made to honor one family¡¯s ancestor. There is a date to indicate it was made during second year of ¡°Zhi De¡±(757 A.D.) of the Tang Dynasty. The old coin style base (stand) is cast iron and was made to fit the stele later. It is in excellent condition...

This rare and unusual carved bamboo brush holder is dated to the Qing dynasty, Guang Xu 7th year (1881). The bamboo cylinder is carved to represent strung bamboo slips. This was the earlier form of books in China before the invention of paper. The artist (writer) Jie Shan wrote and carved the poem during early spring, 1881 in Tong-Shi Hall...

This is a tall Song dynasty (960 – 1276 A.D) yingqing or qingpai meiping or plum vase. It stands on a recess base, rising from a small base to a baluster shape body with a short shoulder towards a mouth rim with a ring in between. The shoulder is circled with incised double ring. The body is divided into six symmetrical portions by two parallel incised lines starting from the outer ring of the shoulder towards all the way to the footrim...

Gilded Lacquer Bronze Seated Shakyamuni, 17th Century

It is 11.25 inches (28.5 cm) tall by 8 inches (20.5 cm) wide. It weighs 6.2 lb.

It is in good condition with no cracks, except loss of lacquer, chip at one arm, manufacture defect of firing holes near the bottom, and an old repair to a chip at the back (as seen in the photos).
