In most mandalas the fire-element has the color red, is associated with the western region of the universe and has the lotus or nectar-vase as it's symbol. The lotus stands for pure intentions of all activities, while the nectar vase, filled with the subtle life-energy (nectar) demonstrates the immense power of this element...

Large Chinese Guanyin Temple statue made of Jade, with changing jade colours from light green to green, yellow, grey and black. This solid figure is seated on a double lotus flower, one hand holding the pearl and the other a vase.

The Guanyin is in great antique condition with very detailed carvings. Absolutely rare and one of a kind. It dates from the Mid Qing Period (circa late 18th. century)...

A decorative Temmoku glazed bowl with a raised decoration of a Dragon and Lingzhi. Most probably Japanese and probably from the seventeenth or eighteenth century. There is an incised signature to the piece which could give final clarity to the educated among us. Diameter : 13,2 cm. H : 6,8 cm. Condition : Perfect

An antique 18th century Chinese Bronze Buddha seated in the varda or granting of Boons mudra. 

This lovely Buddha is seated in the lotus or Padmasana position, with each foot placed on the opposite thigh. His robes cascade fluidly from his left shoulder.  His robe is draped to leave the right shoulder bare, and a portion of the garment that covers the left wrist falls behind the figure...

This a Japanese or chinese stoneware bowl, probably from 17th century or earlier for tea drinking, just like the Matcha Bowl

Statue of Buddha, in monk's robes, standing on an elevated rounded stand, his hands in abhaya and varada mudra (symbolizing protection, peace, charity and compassion). Wood, with fine patina. Japan, mid Edo period, 18th century. Height: 18 cm. Slight abrasion due to age, otherwise very good condition.

Atractive Blue and White Quatrefoil Lobed Dish, with straight flaring sides and a flat rim. Decorated with two birds among prunus, chrysanthemum and other plants issuing from rockwork, on a terrace. All in a good blue. Qianlong, C1750/70. Max dia.8 5/8" (21.9cm). Condition; two areas of minor friting to inside corners.

A Karatsu ware tea bowl with gold mending. It has simple paintings which is called E-karatsu. Karatsu ware has been produced in the east part of Saga Pref. and the north part of Nagasaki Pref. in Kyushu since late 16th century. Age is not clear. It is possible that is made by modern artist. However, kintsugi (mending by gold) is enjoyable. Diameter:15cm, Height:5cm

From our Chinese Blue and White Collection, a very fine and rare pair of Kangxi Mark and Period (1662 - 1722) aster dishes, ex- Christie's (see last photos for actual Christie's catalog listing), well-executed in a deep Mohammedan blue, with three aster blooms painted amidst a reserve of scrolling tendrils on shallow petal-lobed bodies...

A rare Sancai ewer with figurine of the fish and a small aubergine glaze fish among lotus, waves, covered overall with typically Sancai color of green, yellow, aubergine glazed. Condition is very good, no any chip, no any crack and free from any restoration after examination. Possibly 18th century or earlier, found at Indonesia 25 years ago. Height: 26,2 cm.

Large and heavy Mid-Edo Period (1603-1868) Seto Ware Blue and White Dish.

Seto pottery, dated as early as the 13th century, produced around Seto city in Aichi Prefecture, Japan. It is also considered as one of the Six Ancient Kilns of Japan.

Set of five Japanese Arita blue and white dishes, the centres decorated with pine, plum and bamboo within a scrolling vine border. Gilt rim. The reverse with a continuous floral scroll. C1750/1780. Diameter 18.2cm. Condition: perfect, no chips, cracks or restoration. See the Shibata Collection Part 1, no.197.

Antique Japanese Raku ware chawan (tea bowl) with crackle glaze, repaired with red lacquer. Red glaze with light green splash. Kyoto. Evaluation done in the 1930's by TZ Shiota when the family was inheriting the collection from their great grandfather, Federic Torrey...

A fine kikugata mukuzuke moulded dish in the form of an asymmetric Chrysanthemum bloom with central motif of a single Chrysanthemum leaf richly enamelled in green and blue enamels with gilding. The rim decorated with a dark brown iron temmoku style glaze. The dish measures 18.5cm in length, 14cm wide and stands 4cm high. The dish is in excellent condition with no cracks, chips or restoration. Shipping at Cost.

Chinese famille-verte cafe au lait ribbed saucer, Kangxi(1662-1722), decorated with flowers, the border with branches of flowers and birds in flight, all within an underglaze blue zigzag border, the exterior with branches of flowers against a cafe au lait background. Underglaze blue Kangxi Mark to the base. Diameter : 13,3 cm. Condition : Perfect with minor wear to the enameled decoration.

Pair of Chinese Blue and White Rectangular Trays. Each decorated with a tied bunch of flowering peony and other plants. Qianlong C1760/70. Diameter 23.3cm. Condition: excellent, one 0.15cm frit to rim, a little light glaze crazing to one tray.
