Girl's kimono made of hand-spun cotton with flower motif which is Yuzen-zome (hand-painting). The ground cloth is benibana (safflower) dye. Benibana was grown in Yamagata prefecture in Edo period, and it was very precious. It was traded to Kyoto and dyed there for kosode kimono or others for women of a family of high-ranking samurai or merchants. Benibana dye has faded in upper back, but generally in good condition. Startled to enlightenment, this is a large Edo period figure of a Rakan (Sanskrit: Arhat), a Buddhist saint kozutsucarved in the Yosegi-zaiku method of joined blocks of wood. Originally covered in polychrome colors, much has grayed and flaked away with time, a fitting aspect of the image. He has glass eyes which seem to burn violently with realization. A stunning terracotta figure of Horse and Rider, Parthian Empire, 1st-3rd. cent. AD.

The tall bearded figure emerging from the body of the horse, wearing folded cap, the horse with applied disc eyes, traces of decoration. Their bodies is blending into a single, triangular form, with the head and upper body of the man directly behind the horse’s head. Finely detailed features of a mature Parthian horseman, probably nobility.

An attractive and substantial cylinder seal carved in blakc Haematite, Isin-Larsa period, Old Babylonian, ca. 2000 - 1800 BC.

The seal is carved with an introduction of the king to standing sun god with saw. Another worshipper or lesser deity is also depicted and there's and interesting large emblematic staff between them.

An unsually large stone cylinder seal, carved in a glossy black green stone, Middle Assyrian period, c. 14th.-11th. cent. BC.
