It's not flashy, but it looks like a fusuma painting from the Edo period. Both the indigo dye and the cotton are from the Edo period, and they have a very nice texture.

Beautiful female head of a pillar figurine with sharply defined facial features. The elaborate hairdo is reminiscent of Egyptian wigs.
The woman shows beautiful almond-shaped eyes with neatly marked lids. The arched eyebrows span the entire forehead. The nose is gone, the lips are pressed to a gentle smile.

The head is almost entirely covered with a white slip. The details of the face such as eyes and mouth were rendered with additional colors.

Figured blue silk. Stitched on embroidered roundels with design of a boy holding flowers. Applied with black silk band and ribbon at the collar, cuffs and hem. On yellow silk satin in satin stitch and Peking knot beautifully embroidered sleeve bands with flowers, peaches and bats. Peach colored silk lining. Condition: One roundel at the back and parts of the ribbon missing. Some wear and minor staining, loose threads, lining worn, repair. Dimension: Sleeve to sleeve 148 cm, 57 cm high.

Very unusual Ca. 1930 iron lantern in the shape of a Shinto Shrine Drum with the 'mitsu tomoe' (three commas) which symbolized Raijin the god of thunder and lightning. Often this symbol is on the end of temple roof tiles as protection against thunder and lightning. Great condition. 9" in diameter and 9" tall. Ask for shipping quote.
