Japanese "zelkova" (keyaki) wood Yonezawa style two-section tansu with round iron lock plates engraved in a butterfly motif and rimmed with a thin band of silvery "hakudo" (nickel alloy). This Indo-Persian antique silver repousse lidded container box was probably intended for cosmetics. The elaborate design work is flawless and the attention to detail were hallmarks of luxury items made during the late 19th century in both India and Persia. There are 2 makers marks and some scratches on the bottom of the box. See picture
The box is 3.5 inches in diameter and is 1.5 inches high
This antique Korean ink stone was carved from a thick piece of black stone, and is 7.25 inches (18 cm) x 11 inches (28cm) x 3 inches (7.6 cm) high. It weights about 14 lbs. The lid is deeply carved with a swirling dragon. The base of the stone has a grinding surface that slopes to a deep inkwell for collecting the liquid ink. The border of the base is carved with a simple repeat decoration.
One corner of the lid has a chip with most of the loss on the underside...
