An unusual pair of large wooden male twins, Nigeria, Yoruba, 19th. cent.

The fine twins are wearing round helmet-like headdresses and exceptional facial features including large teeth! Both adorned with jewelry. Note the preserved body pigments, that is often washed off on older figures!

This is a very fine, large, well-hallowed, Chalcedony Snuff Bottle of circular bulbous form, with a high neck, a flat wide lip, and an oval foot rim surrounding a shallowly recessed flat foot. The translucent stone has a random mottled pattern of brown and black spots, and a textured burst of white and cream colored pattern on one side of it , nears the bottom, over a grayish and light coffee colored stone ground. It comes with an orange agate stopper with a metal collar...

Chinese Jadeite Jade Clip, Ca. late 1800's, apple green and pale lavender color Jadeite hardstone with gilded Filigree Silver mount, impressed mark "Silver" "China" on the back. 2" x 1 1/4" wide, 1" high overall size, Crescent shape Jadeite stone is 1 1/2" x 1" wide, 3/8" thick, one side shows apple green natural colors, the other side is translucent pale lavender color on white translucent natural Jadeite. The condition is good and easily can wear as a Pin.

A fine and rare French gilded Cherub/Cupid candle holder beautifully cast in the manner of artist "Francois Boucher" on a massive footed polished stone and bronze base. Good condition. Size: Height 12" (30.5 cm.). Late 19th Century.

A pair lovely unmounted figural staves, unusually large and detailed for the type, comes with a deep natural patina from old age.

These two figures known as edan have been cast in brass over iron rods. Each is a seated figure of the opposite sex. They are linked by a chain attached to loops to the tops of their heads. The figures resemble Onile, the owner of the earth, in both male and female forms.

Antique Japanese cloisonné vase decorated with various types of blooming chrysanthemums from a large white variety to purple then small red and yellow flowers. The ground is a deep blue. The interior and bottom are covered in green enamel.

Very rare 'Noshi" celebration wood carving. Noshi is an ornament attached to gifts and presents offered on festive occasions in Japan like weddings, births etc. This carving is a jizaikagi used on a hearth pot holder with iron fittings and bamboo pole. This pair of porcelain plates was produced in England by Mintons in 1879. This was the height of the Aesthetic Period when Japanese inspired design was in demand. They were made for the retailer Jones, McDuffee & Stratton of Boston, Massachusetts. The creators of these plates and their designs were E. Reuter & R. Pillsbury at Mintons. The plates measure 9 ½ inches in diameter and the decoration has slender metallic vessels contain flowering branches...

A square composite panel made of antique embroideries from the Greek islands (Ottoman Empire). The basic fabrics are different plain cotton weaves, embroidered with silk or wool and metal wrapped threads. Traces of former mounting, maybe as a pillow cover. Condition: one hole (see photo no. 4), some slits, some missing threads, little faded. Dimension: 51 cm x 52.5 cm.

An antique Japanese Jizai Kagi fish hearth hook made of bamboo and wood. Hand carved wooden fish. All original patina built-up over years of use and display. A wonderful work of Mingei art.

Ivory netsuke, depicting three wise men of good fortune, Hotei, Jurojin and Fukurokuju, on the boat of fortune, the Takarabune. The Takarabune, whose bow is shaped like a Ryu dragon, sails on the waves of the sea. The waves are carved under the base next to the himotoshi. Period: Meiji end of 19th century. Dimensions: 3.3 x 5 x 2 cm. Conservation status: Excellent condition.

Interesting large amuletic seal in marble, probably crusader period, 11th.-13th. cent.

The seal was found in Eastern Anatolia / Western Mesopotamia - old crusader land. It was described in the large collection as a 'mystery seal', due to it's strange form and depiction on the seals base.
