Blue and white tea bowl with scalloped rim and pagoda decoration, Qianlong c 1760-80. Interestingly, the Chinese decorator has made an abrupt cut in the mountainous landscape scene (cf. picture 3) so as to give an impression of a printed pattern, the way it is sometimes seen on early English - competitive - transferware where this of course always was a mistake due to this new technology. Unusual. Height 2" / 5 cm. Condition: minimal chip to outer rim.

A 19thC china child with doll in washtub figurine. This unusual and well made hand painted late 19th century porcelain figural whimsey or decorative figure is of a girl holding a Pierrot doll over a washtub. This European 3-5/8" across and 3-3/4" high figurine has gold trim and fine handpainting; it is unsigned except for a 2219 (or 2279) and a 49 stamped on the bottom...

A Chinese dish, enameled in Imari colours and gold with a fenced garden, peony and the auspicious pak choy plant. First decades of Qianlong (1736-95) or earlier. Diameter "9/ 22,5 cm and height "1½/ 4 cm. Condition: glaze wear, hairline and rim frits, star crack to the back (cf. pictures).

18th century Indian bronze Shiva shrine from Western India in a form of a courtyard, the family of Shiva seated around a lingam, including his wife Parvati in her Annapurna manifestation and her son Ganesha, as well as Nandi bull and a seated figure of a shrine donor with offerings in his hands. The back halo has the protective naga (cobra) with its hood wide open, and there is a pile of offerings in the front right corner of the shrine...

Chinese tea bowl with very thinly engraved sgraffito decoration of a lady in her garden. Illegible seal mark in red. The hairstyle of the lady points to the Republic period, around 1930. Height: 2 1/4" / 6 cm. Condition: minor chip to the inside of the foot rim.

Small trumpet shaped vase, late Qianlong period (1736-95). Underglaze blue and enameled decoration of panels of flowers, fans and vases in European style. Height "7½/ 19 cm. Condition: hairline and restored chip at upper rim, as seen in photo.

Japanese cigarette case / tobacco box, lacquer on copper with mother of pearl inlay of flowers and birds to both sides. Made in Nagasaki and exported to Europe, where it was given as a Christmas present in 1867 - dedication and date engraved to the inside of the box lid. Measures: 6 " / 15.2 x 3 " / 7.3 cm, height 2/3 ” / 1.7 cm. Condition: the lid with cracks and some loss to the lacquer.

A pair of blue and white, transfer printed tea bowls, c 1820. The exterior with putti and lions playing, the interior with a stylized leaf and flower border. Height "2¼/ 5,5 cm, diameter "3¼/ 8,5 cm. Condition: minimal nicks to foot rims, one bowl with a nick to upper rim.

A brocade in gold wrapped silk threads with flower heads. From Georges Redard's study collection, mainly comprising Persian textiles. Condition: faded, some wear and thin areas. Please look at photos carefully, being part of condition report. Dimension: c. 40 cm x 30 cm.

SOLD Porcelain underglaze blue painted dinner plate decorated in a direct steal from Worcester with the “pine cone” pattern. The form of the plate is slightly different than the Worcester form but design and border are a close copy. Worcester is done with a transfer prints whereas this plate is hand painted and the porcelain is hard paste as opposed to soft paste. Since the pattern being copied is from around 1780 this plate is probably circa 1790...

18th century Indian bronze votive sculpture of Ganesha sitting on a square base, his trunk turned to its left, with his vahana (vehicle) - a bandicoot rat - in front of him, and holding his usual attributes. There is a protective naga (cobra) discernible wrapped around his waist. Ganesha is the remover of obstacles, and thus is invoked before any new undertaking. He bestows good luck on his worshippers, and is invoked in marriage ceremonies and in some forms of Tantric worship...

Late Meiji - early Taisho (1900-1920) okimono size wooden mask of the old man Okina with its typical smiling expression. Actual size masks are used in Sambaso dance. Wonderfully captured facial expression, good representation of its hanging lower jaw, great quality carving typical for the Hida school. The material is ichii (Japanese yew wood) with clever use of wood texture to add to the charm of the piece...

A Staffordshire blue and white waste bowl or slop bowl, transfer printed, early 19th century. The outside with a textile pattern and reserves with a bird. The inside with a stylized border of leaves and flowers and a similar bird in the centre. Diameter "4½/ 11,5 cm, height "2¾/ 7 cm. Condition: fine.

A pair of small Doulton Lambeth Silicon jars, the inside salt glazed as to be used for pickles relish or the like, the outside meticulously worked with applied and incised stylized leaves and pearl borders in beige and blue. Impressed mark Doulton Silicon Lambeth and year mark 1883. Height "2¼/ 6 cm, diameter "3½/ 8,5 cm. Condition: fine.

A pair of blue glass vases, Pearline from Davidson’s in Gateshead, England. Pearline, an opalizing pressed glass launched by Davidson’s, was very much en vogue c 1890 – 1910. Height "4/ 10.2 cm. Condition: fin (please observe that what might look like cracks to the base in the photos are mould traces).

An English stoneware plate, salt-glazed and enameled in rust-red, blue and green, c 1800 or somewhat earlier. Diameter "9½/ 24 cm. Condition: a small glaze-burst to rim, otherwise fine.

Chinese cup with fluted sides and decoration of peony and a crane, symbol of longevity, in beautiful Famille rose enamels. Yongzheng or early Qianlong, c 1730-50. Height "2/ 5 cm, diameter "2¾/ 7 cm. Condition: a flake to the mouth rim (cf. pics).

Chinese ceramic Buddha, circa 1900-1930 (Qing – Early Republic). The iconography is quite unusual there is a seated Buddha image on the chest, standing Buddha image on the back, and another image of the Buddha in Parinirvana reclining pose. Overall a very intriguing piece, possibly meant for export to another Asian nation. Excellent original condition- no cracks, chips or frits. H: 15cm/6in and W: 9cm/3.5in.
