Household protection mask, flat, of squarish shape, with rounded forehead incised with stylized hair design, very small incised highly stylized ears, small pierced through round eyes, long nose, rectangular pierced through mouth showing teeth, roundish short chin. Wood, with partly encrusted brown patina. Himalayan Region, early 19th century, probably earlier. Height: 11 3/4" (29,7 cm). A pair of very well painted and gilt porcelain compotes. Both with marks that are loosely painted in undergaze blue that more or less resemble the crossed torches that are the registered mark for the Locre factory, also known as La Courtille. The factory was in existence from 1771 until 1840. The high quality of the painting is especially evident in the bouquets in the center of the compotes...

A hard paste porcelain cup and saucer with gilding of lyres with arrows supporting swags. Two panels on the saucer and one on the cup displaying in differently toned gilding elaborate outdoor scenes with people, buildings, trees and other details. The partially gilt handle scrolls to the top edge. Two-tone leaves ring the lower part of the cup. There are no marks on either the cup or saucer. Inscribed in the body of the saucer inside the fool is what appears to be “n6” in a bold hand...

Beautiful Japanese kusuri medical dansu made of kiri wood (paulownia) and sugi side frames (Japanese cypress or cryptomeria). With original finish and hardware. Lacquer with orange, dark reddish, brown and mahogany tones. Usually with 100 small drawers and two large drawers on the bottom. Metal hardware on each drawer and side handles. Age: Edo Period. Edo Period (circa 1820) Japanese Daki Ningyô (Hugging Doll) standing at the unusual height of 27.5 inches (70 cm), making him a very rare and striking figure. It is most uncommon to see this type of Ningyô outside of Japan, for they are highly prized by the Japanese. A widely held theory has it that these dolls were commissioned by patrons of Geisha as presentation gifts. This one is outstanding in every way. It has a wonderfully expressive face and conveys a very happy spirit...

This is a Kyoto School Netsuke of a Dog. Seated, facing backwards, as if responding to a call. Its thin tail raising over its back forming a look. Finely detailed hair work. Its large eyes inlaid in dark horn. Measures 1.50 inches (3.8cm) long, and one-inch (2.5cm) high.

A very rare bronze set of Buddha and two disciples. Thailand, Early Rattanakosin, early 19th century. Dimensions: Buddha 32 cm excl. parasol, 50cm incl. parasol. The disciples 14 cm high. Condition: excellent, expected age wear to the gilding, original parasol and hand mirror.

A superb tea kettle, its body made of copper, its handle and spout made of bronze and cast in the shape of dragons. This is a Chinese Export blue and white Canton pattern porcelain pot de creme with cover, circa 1810-1820, having an entwined-strap handle decorated with gilt on blue floral terminals. The porcelain cover has a fruit-sprig knop. Measurements: 3 1/2 in. H; Condition: rim chips on cup and cover, wear to gilt on handle.

A charming example of Abraham Parsell's ability to capture the essential characteristic of a sitter and portray them in a wonderful naïve manner. In the miniature portrait presented here we have a young man with striking blue eyes and a mound of curly hair. He is attired in a dark brown jacket, black vest, and white tie and shirt.

The condition of the painting is excellent, with no cracks, chips, bowing, fading, etc...

Mask of the "Nuo" esoteric theater representing the character of Heshang, the Buddhist monk, with very expressive features. The mask was carved on wood, then paper was affixed all over its surface, on which polychrome pigments were painted. China, early 19th century, probably earlier. Height: 9 13/16" (25 cm). The mask is nicely mounted on a custom metal stand. Paper partly flaked, and consequently the colors, otherwise very good condition.

This is a 19th Century, Dear Horn Antler Netsuke in the form of a Seated Monkey that is holding its young on its lap with both hands in a protective manner, with a tender look on its face. Impressive chimney himotoshi, common of Edo period netsuke, that starts in the back of the monkey and continues to a large opening on the bottom of it. Wonderful. rich patina...
