Unusual 19th century Japanese mixed metal scroll weight in a form of a karako (Chinese boy) standing on one knee with the other one up, wearing a rich robe and a collar. Could have been used as a brush rest as well. Dynamic posture, pleasantly heavy bronze with gilding on the collar and robe, intricate textile designs on the robe superbly inlaid with silver, excellent depiction of his chubby face with a slight smile. A phenomenal Victorian sterling silver cheese scoop in Whiting’s “No. 26” pattern. The tip of the handle features a gorgeous full-blown peony blossom and bud. The twist stem leads to the deeply curled bowl. “No. 26” is an extremely rare pattern. It is always very finely made and exceptionally heavy, even by Whiting’s standards. The pattern is a multi-motif design, so each piece has a slightly different, but related, decoration on the handle...

A Wonderful Ball, Black & Co. American Silver Footed Center Bowl or Compote. J R Wendt is the Probable Silversmith. It is oval in shape with dimensions of 14" in length x 9" deep x 4.5" high. Weight is a heavy 27.9 Troy ounces. It has the Ball, Black & Co. New York mark (Formed in 1851 by William Black and Henry Ball. Became Black, Starr and Frost in 1874) and in a shield it is marked "950/1000 fine". The mark dates from 1851-1874 and the bowl is circa 1860. Excellent condition.

A small Japanese square bronze table screen with a flying crane in openwork, raised and supported on the backs of two kirins, a mythical beast in Chinese mythology. At the top two holders, maybe for a brush. Condition: a small loss (one ear), one leg restored (see photo No. 11), bottom of sreen maybe with lost part?, patina. Dimension: c. 15.5 cm high, 18.5 cm wide, 8.3 cm deep.

Very rare and exceptional Late Edo/Early Meiji Period C.1880 bronze buddhist temple lantern. Originally held a small dish for an oil lamp. Thick heavy bronze that has oxidized with time to produce a lovely blue/green patina. On tripod legs with fantastic vine motif on the main body panels. Hinges on door still work. Lost wax cast. Choson Period, ca. early 1800s

This jar is stoutly potted, having a tall neck and flaring body, resting on a thick grit-coated footring and slightly recessed base. It is clear glazed without decoration. Small gray and brown iron impurities in the clay freely show through the clear glaze. This is a mingei type folk craft item intended to use in the home. There are several stable hairline cracks from age, stained brown in the rim area.
