It has dark spots, skip glazes, rubbing gold and paint, and surface wears and scratches (as seen in the photos).

This porcelain lidded vase or ginger jar was produced in England by Coalport in the 1890s. It measures 3 ½ inches high and has a diameter of 3 inches. The shape is Asian inspired. It has a bright olive green enamel ground color. An intricate pattern of raised gold in two colors encircles the piece. There are swags, drapes and other design elements making it look like a piece of jewelry. Bright orange and white enamel jewels accent the gilded design...

This porcelain vase was produced in England by Royal Doulton in the 1890s. It is signed by the artist Edwin Wood. He specialized in painting flowers and particularly roses. The vase is 8 inches high and 3 inches across the top. It is made of fine bone china. It has a pedestal foot and scrolled handles. The flower painting is exquisitely detailed. The colors are vibrant. This porcelain vase was produced in England by Royal Worcester in the 1870s. The date letters in the mark are illegible so it is not possible to specify the exact year. The vase is 7 3/8 inches high. A Chinese polychrome cloisonne covered box. The flowers and stylized character decoration in cloisonne, raised above a textured, patinated background which was not enameled. A thin gold wash remaining on the foot rim surface and evident on the cloisons surfaces. The work, patina and the slightly pitted enamels indicative of 19th century work. Condition is fair to good with a few small dents to top which don't visually detract from presentation...

A pair of icon fragments done on wood with extensive gold highlights. They are both from the same icon, which, I believe, depicted the Four Evangelists. The painting is of exceptional quality, as the photos will hopefully confirm. While I believe that they in fact date to the 17th century, I am conservatively dating them to the 19th or earlier. The panels measure 3-1/2" X 5-3/8" and 3-3/8" X 5-1/2", respectively. Rare and beautiful examples.

This pair of porcelain vases was produced in England by Mintons in the 1870s. The vases measure 8 ¾ inches high and are 4 inches in diameter. The ground color shades from turquoise blue to cream color. The decorations are hand enameled. The style is aesthetic, inspired by the Asian cultures. Weeping vines of wisteria, prunus blossoms and Japanese mons are painted in heavy gold and platinum enamel. The shoulders of the vases have a collar of raised gold decorations...

A pair of miniature size (3 1/2" by 4 3/8" inside the innermost mat) pages of the holy Qu'ran (Koran) of Islam, circa 19th century, and according to an auction house specialist, most likely Ottoman origin. (A handwritten modern note on the backing says Persia, circa 1800). Note the amazing detail and painstaking calligraphy and decoration. The pages are very nicely framed, with two mats and gold fillets. Framed the entire piece measures 19" by 15"...

Although not marked, this art glass piece bears the styling and quality of Victorian pieces made by the Stevens and Williams Ltd of England and in the 1870s under the direction of John Northwood (son Harry Northwood was a glass maker in America). The body is an oval pill-shaped translucent light turquoise glass with an open oval top that is bordered with a scalloped ribbon crest. At each narrow end is a small applique of amber glass. Turn-of-the-century American Art Nouveau green plasss perfume bottle with engraved silver overlay. Globular with short neck and everted rim in collar. Ball stopper. Overlay in dense and dynamic flower head pattern with interlaced and overlapping petals and pointille florets. Marked “Sterling Silver Deposit 46”. Very good condition.

An antique Japanese Choba Tansu (merchant's chest) made of Keyaki Burl (Zelkova) and Suginoki (Cryptomeria) woods. The sides of the chest feature horizontal cross ribs for added strength and durability. Constructed using mortise & tenon, through mortise & tenon, and double through mortise & tenon joinery. Use of hardened wood nails. The sliding doors open to an expansive storage space that was used to keep store records and books.
