Rare Chinese Northern Wei Dynasty Painted Pottery Horse & Rider
This rare and attractive pottery model of a horse & rider was made during the Northern Wei Dynasty (AD 386 - 534). It has been "cold painted" in a base coat of a white pigment on top of which are traces of red and black pigments. The horse stands upright with its head turned a little to its left. The rider's body is also turned to its left with the right arm raised; note also the detail of the rider's clothing...

This porcelain chamber stick was produced in Germany by Meissen in the late 19th century.
It has first quality crossed swords under glaze. It is 2 3/4 inches tall with a diameter of
5 inches. The handle is shaped like a branch and there is a flower on the top. It is hand painted with brilliant colors. The pattern is known as “Little Table” an ancient Japanese design.
The painting is detailed and very ornate. There is a delicate border in orange and gold...
This porcelain box was produced in Germany by Meissen in the late 19th century. It has first quality crossed swords on the bottom. The box measures 4 1/2” long, 3” wide and 2 1/2” deep, The lid had a finely hand painted bull finch bir perched in a blue berry branch. The coloring is vibrant and the style realistic. Little flying insects dot the bottom half of the box. The rims are trimmed with gold.
Condition: Very slight wear to gilding on edge. There are no other defects.

A graceful stepped strap-handled pitcher of lead glass, featuring trailed threading at the rim, and engraved "RFE" with vines above ribbons, the reverse with flowering vines.
The condition is excellent, with no flaws to speak of. Good color and tooling. Snapped rough pontil. The height is 7 1/4".
