This is a magnificent little pedestal bowl from ancient Korea. It dates to the Silla period(57 BCE-935 CE). The body is conical with rectangular perforations common to the era. The lid has been restored from 3 large fragments. Beautiful Korean antiquities are quite scarce so don't miss this fantastic find. It measures about 20 cm in height.
This amazing piece is a decorated from horse bridle or strap link. It was part of a lot of antiquities from the Arthur M Sackler collection auctioned through Christies in New York. The original auction tags will accompany the piece. The Sackler catalog number is painted on the reverse of the piece. The colour of the snuff bottle is of dark orange colour. The base has a honorific Qianlong mark to the base. Cir. late 19th century, likely to be dated to the Guangxu (1875-1908) period.
