A Chinese bronze bell with double-dragon handle above ruyi-shaped clouds and with bands of carved decoration including flowering branches,bamboo,crabs and a phoenix above a lower band of stylized rocks and waves. Unusually for a Chinese Qing dynasty piece, the bell is made from copper/tin alloy bronze. We think that this item was probably made during the first half of the 19th Century, cica 1820-1850. The body is a red clay covered with white slip then painted in blue with a dentil style pattern at the top and bottom with the name of the drug in the central section. The inside is similarly covered in white slip and shows the ridges from being turned on a potter’s wheel. A pair of dry drug jars decorated with blue leaves top and bottom and the drug name in the middle, all over a light grayish blue glaze. This form is typical of the 18th century Italian drug jars. The hand throwing on a wheel is evident on the glazed interior of both jars. 7 ¼ inches tall and 4 ¾ inches diameter, (18.5 cm tall, 12 cm diameter).

Condition; Both have chips on the base and roughness from throwing on the mouth. Both have later marking on the base with a magic marker.

The Chinese Tang Dynasty iron stele is 7 ½ inches tall and 5 ½ inches wide. A Buddhist design is on one side; calligraphy is on reverse. Most of the calligraphy has worn off, but some characters are still legible. It looks like it was made to honor one family¡¯s ancestor. There is a date to indicate it was made during second year of ¡°Zhi De¡±(757 A.D.) of the Tang Dynasty. The old coin style base (stand) is cast iron and was made to fit the stele later. A rare carved ivory Netsuke in the form of a Lion or Karashishi, made in Japan in the Edo / Tokugawa period (1600-1868), probably during the 18th Century.
