This set of 6 porcelain plates were made in France in the mid 19th century. The may have been made by a Paris porcelain decorator. The plates have a diameter of 9 5/8 inches. They are made of fine hard paste porcelain. The rims are scalloped. They are decorated in the Sevres style and have the crossed L’s under glaze. The decoration is completely hand painted. There is bright royal blue trim and ornaments. Garlands of peach colored roses encircle the plate...

Two small Japanese porcelain dishes used for small side servings or morsels - both decorated with blue underglaze and polychrome overglaze enamels. One with asymmetric floral decoration and gilt foliate rim and spurious Chenghua mark inside the foot. The other octagonal with dragon decoration in the cavetto surrounded by flowering karakusa enclosed within alternating red and blue panels and the verso with geometric patterns...

This porcelain plate was produced in England by Doulton Burslem in the late 19th century. It is artist signed by W. Slater It has a diameter of 8 3/4 inches. The plate is made of fine, white bone china. The edges are scalloped and there is a pattern of hollowed out sections around the border of the plate. It is painted in the most delicate, exquisite art nouveau style. There are broad, multi-colored leaves and Queen Anne’s lace covering the plate...

From our Chinese Blue and White Collection, a large Qianlong Period (1736-1795) leaf-shaped platter in the so-called "Two Quail Pattern," featuring an elegant Lady and Gentleman exchanging flirtatious glances in a treed pastoral setting with two quail milling about in the foreground. This large and heavy porcelain platter of unusual form is painted in deep blue with brown iron oxide dressing to the outer rim edges...

A pair of plates by Samson of Paris. Decoration in Famille rose colours of sprigs of flowers within a gilt Rococo border, imitating mid-18th Chinese export porcelain of the Qianlong period. Unmarked. Diameter "9½/ 23,8 cm. Condition: fine.

Beautiful dish or bowl with a landscape and cottages in Famille rose colours and gold within a diaper border in pale turquoise. Early Qianlong, first half of the 18th century. Diameter "9¾/ 24,8 cm and height "1½/ 4 cm. Condition: two hairlines, one piece reglued (cf. pics).

The decoration is copied from French Sevres factory. There are two types of hummingbirds that are beautifully hand painted. The representation is true to the species of hummingbird. A group of samurai won a victory in a battle. Hanging scroll Circa Edo period, 17th century. Painted on paper with ink and pigments. The samurai on the far right is holding a stand with the head of their enemy’s general. In Japanese history the enemy's head was to prove the samurai's feat in a war. If the opponent defeated was in a higher position, the better rewarded. There is an inscription on the scroll reads Tosa Mitsuoki hitsu, means painted by Tosa Mitsuoki...

Blanc de Chine figure of Guanyin, seated with a boy holding a ruyi sceptre on her lap. Above a dragon among waves, with Longnu, the Jade Maiden and Shoukai, the Golden Youth to either side. Kangxi C1680. Height 22.7cm. Condition: vase to left of figure missing, two fingers chipped on Guanyin's hand. Usual firing faults.

A Nezumi Shino covered box or jar. Probably a mukozuke (but for which we are not familiar with examples accompanied by a cover.) White slip inlaid into incised decoration under the warm, gray glaze - conspicuous on the cover but not so much in decoration on the sides of the box where contrast does not succeed as well. A pleasant "swipe" of white slip under the cover provides a bit of a "surprise"...

A superb Chinese porcelain vase richly painted in a color hue that is seldom seen, with mauve blue and purple, moss green and saffron yellow with rich iron red accents. This large vase displays a whimsical scene of boys at play. Highly unusual phurba lavishly decorated, from top to bottom, with stylized lotus, four deities heads separated by a pitcher and a trident, geometric design, a "makara" head with three Shiva tridents on top and snakes at the tip of the blade.
