Rare gilt bronze pendant, of oval form, with a finely embossed decoration representing a noble lady being taken care of by two servants, under a tree, the whole scene surrounded by geometric design. This glass is a companion piece to g1217, identical except for the floral arrangement on top of the cartouche surrounding the saying.

It is a slightly larger size. Two layers of indigo-dyed cotton cloth are layered and he is sashiko-stitched with a soft feel noragi. In Akita prefecture, there are many soft sashiko compared to neighboring prefectures. This tendency is especially noticeable in mountainous areas. The sashiko method is also stabbed as if scooping a cloth slightly...

A Chinese bronze hu-form vase with tubular handles and a cast band around the shoulder. Late Ming, 17th century. 24 cms. (shallow dent to lower part of one side)

Exceedingly rare hard porcelain dish from arita. Painted in yellow, green, blue and red enamels. The decor represents many children, seated in a building in front of a covered vase, perhaps a funerary urn. Dominating the assembly, the central character of a trio is the only one wearing a hat. Above the trio three Chinese characters are drawn in red on a panel. It seems to be a religious ceremony but the youth of the assembly is perplexing. Understanding the 3 characters should solve the enigma...

A rare antique Japanese merchant chest (Choba Tansu). All original hand forged iron hardware including the Kakute style handles and the full moon lock plates. Entire exterior of the tansu is Keyaki (Zelkova) with drawer backs made of Kiri (Paulownia) woods. 16 total drawers for merchant storage of valuables. Each side has two sets of handles, one for long distance carrying and one for room placement...

This tripod censer has an extremely well potted rare shape. The censer is covered with an superb opaque glaze of finely mottled turquoise and purplish-blue tone. A piece of superlatives.
