Thai 14th - 15th Century Sawankhalok Celadon Bowl (20cm)

This stoneware bowl was made at the Sawankhalok kilns around the 14th - 15th century. It is quite "heavily-potted" and coated in a finely-crackled translucent olive-green celadon glaze. The inner surface has been elaborately decorated with incised parallel bands and vertical lines, with surface decoration also to the flared rim.. The base remains unglazed revealing the pale grey stoneware body...

A Chinese mutton fat nephrite jade pendant or toggle of Budai measuring about 2 1/2" long and weighing 86g. While primarily white in color, the jade has a few random russet sections on the side and rear, and evinces under strong light a faint subtle green tint. There is a hole which is used to thread for wear. Unmarked.

This porcelain tea caddy with lid was produced in Germany by Sitzendorf in the 1890s. The tea caddy measures 6 inches high, including the lid and 5 inches across the handles. The ground color is deep cobalt blue. The reserve on the front is hand painted with a mischievous looking cupid with his bow and arrows. The painting is finely executed with bright colors and fine detail. The scene is framed in a raised gold cartouche. The back of the caddy has a gilded lyre or harp in raised gold...

Never before offered anywhere, is this extremely rare zitan treasure shelf. These were a favorite of any good scholar who would place his small objects of miniature toggles, snuff bottles, jades, etc. The design is simple, streamlined and clean; which is a feature of the late 18th to early 19th. Often zitan lacked excessive carving, due its natural beauty which never required a coat of lacquer. This is japanese antique idigo dye cotton boro long noragi Shonai sashikoused in the Shonai region of Yamagata Prefecture during the Meiji period. (1868-1911) The indigo dyeing on the back is also very charming. Thick hand-spun cotton cloth is layered and sewn with Sashiko stitching. 　 Enjoy wearing it. Favored by many samurai and ashigaru (foot soldiers) for the reached allowed by the long pole arm, the yari was a popular weapon for greater military use. A Royal Worcester 6-1/4" face or mask jug with gold made in 1897. This exquisitely detailed jug has superb hand applied gold decoration in the form of wild daisies with yellow and reddish centers along with wild grasses. The gold is thickly applied with ridges and jewelling and the ornate handle is gold as well. The mask or face on the spout is crisp and detailed and this jug has the Grainger Royal Worcester China Works mark with the G year code for 1897...
