Large Chinese Song / Yuan Dynasty Incised Pottery Buddhist Jar

This rare pottery jar was made in the 12th / 13th century during the Song Dynasty (AD 960 - 1279), or possibly the Yuan Dynasty (AD 1279 - 1368) and has been been excavated from a Buddhist site in Yunnan province.

It is made from a buff-coloured pottery and is of globular form standing on an integral foot. Both cover and jar are decorated with bands of incised parallel lines, on the jar forming lotus leaf shapes...

Unusual Japanese gyosho bako tansu (merchant's chest). With original red lacquer finish, this large piece holds three very deep drawers, each with squared kakute iron pulls on stylized pine tree mounts. The top drawer features a large central lock with flying crane motif, while the lower drawers feature chrysanthemum locks. The sides of the tansu also have two handles for traveling.

Japanese antique samurai kura horse saddle. Carved of wood and lacquered black with shell inlay covering the maewa (front arched plate) as well as the shizuwa (rear arched plate). The maewa and shizuwa are connected by two igi (contoured side bands). The igi rest on either side of the horse's spine and serve as the under frame for the leather seat (basen or kura tsubo) and are slotted for stirrup straps (chikara-gawa or gekiso) to pass through. Chinese Tang dynasty Changsha bowl. Diameter 11.5 cm Height 3.5 cm. Bowl in good condition except glaze erosion. Free from any restorations or repainted.

Guan yin in cast copper alloy. Incised decoration. True old patina. A little worn normally see pictures. No restoration. She must have been holding an object in her hand which is missing today. Hight: 15cm.

A Chinese carved circular huanghuali picture frame with later glass and back board. Late Qing to early Republican period. Repairs and small missings, please refer photos for details. Diameter:26.5cm(10.5")

The Nobori banners for Boy's Day in Japan are very eye-catching. It may be rare to see them actually used today but many that we have left feature colorful drawings of Samurai warriors, heroes from the past, or characters or animals from the stories.

Only one of a kind! Distorted half cylinder shaped (near kutsugata) tea bowl made of light, coarse unrefined Mino clay. It dates from the Momoyama Period.

The expertly thrown body is covered with the typical feldspatic shino glaze inside and outside, with the exception of the bottom' the roughly cut foot ring. A very minor iron oxide content of the clay has changed the white shino glaze to light pink (beni). This is absolutely rare...

Two very nice water droppers in a very good condition. Wear according to age, but no chips or restorations. Hight: 20 cm = 7.9 inch.

Japanese antique nobori banner, hand painted on cotton, a tiger in bamboo grove. The style of the painting is derived from ancient Korean paintings of tigers. It is a style that became popular in Japan from the 16th century and you will see many screens and scrolls of tigers painted in this manner. The popularity of these paintings in this style continued throughout the Edo period(1608-1868) and into the Meiji era...

Remember this vase. It is the only one like it in the world. It is stolen merchandise. The story behind how this vase was taken is terrible and the crud that did it needs to be nailed. The vase is very large for a Yabu piece, standing 12 3/8 inches tall. If it were not stolen Merchandise it would have a value of $50,000-$100,000. Fine Chinese Ming Dynasty Painted Pottery Mandarin Tile

This attractive and very detailed pottery tile depicting a mandarin (Chinese official) was made during the Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644). It is made from a dense grey pottery. The mandarin wears a flowing robe, belted across his waist, with his badge of rank in the centre of his chest. In his right hand is what appears to be a hu (audience tablet) and in his left hand an object upon which is a small animal...

A rare early smaller bronze figure of Krishna dancing on the serpent, South Indian, perhaps Tamil Nadu, c. 17th.-18th. century or earlier.

Condition: Choice Very fine, lovely old patina, with a fine chestnut brown colour from high copper content.
