This finely cast figure, seated in vajrasana or lotus position on a double lotus base, holds in the left hand a stem of lotus with the right middle finger touching the thumb. The flowing robe is open at the chest and drapes over the right shoulder. The borders and lower portions of the robe are incised with scrolling floral motifs. The facial features with slight downcast eyes are crisply rendered and the hair is well-defined...
This is a lovely ancient Egyptian Scarab, 750-700 BC, from the famous Mitry collection (see our Homepage). It is 3/8” long (10 mm) and made of steatite, an easy-to-carve stone that hardens when heated. Scarabs empowered life and resurrection and were often placed under mummy wrappings to protect the body and help it resurrect. This Scarab comes in a jewelry display cup.
Chinese natural Turquoise stone Tassel, two(2) larger natural shape Turquoise(1/2" x 1/2" x 1/4") between two(2) small round Turquoise Beads(1/4" diameter). The condition is good.
A very rare early Ming 15th century longquan celadon octagonal shape large dish, octagonal shape with wide spread rim and unglazed base, dish decorated with carving flower motif at interior, dish covered with bluish green glaze.
Dish is in very good condition no chip, no crack, no restoration.

An antique Japanese Nihonmatsu Kasane Tansu (stacking 2 section chest) made of Kiri (Paulownia) and Sugi (Cryptomeria) woods. Attention-getting Japanese paper mache demon face mask. Has a devious grin, large bulbous nose, with fanged gold teeth. Face is black with red and gold highlights, making features stand out and gives an amusing yet intriguing look. Contains holes in ears of mask with cloth netting running behind face. Paper inscription on back is a description of this unique character.
