Late 19th to early 20th century Chinese porcelain figure of a mythical beast crouching on a rock above cresting waves with its head lowered as it laps the water with its tongue. Wonderful potting, excellent face, beautiful use of turquoise and aubergine colored glazes. Great patina, compressed dust on the surface, few spots of losses to the glaze, the body stamped with 2 characters on the bottom. Height 2 11/16 inches.
Chinese famille rose porcelain tea cups, each with pink and white chrysanthemums with outstretched stems and leaves in pastel greens, a light aubergine band around the rim with small flowers and leaves in curling designs, and a light blue half-star design underneath. Each teacup is stamped underneath with the Hongxian Nian Zhi mark, early 20th century.

This pair of antique Miao boots were made by a young woman from Song Tao to be worn for festivals. The thick sole has iron hob nails to make walking easier on the hills and terraces. The vamp is made from cotton fabric and is heavily embroidered with cottton thread using satin and chain stitch techniques. The upper part of the boot is also made of cotton fabric.

Tatougami which was used at the pawnshop for wrapping pawned items. The name of the shop is "koyama Shichi-ten" and it has the shop's logo "小" in the square. It is a few layers of old washi (handmade paper) pasted together and painted with kakishibu (persimmon tannin) for strength and waterproof. Antique Tibetan gilt bronze figure of the Buddhist deity Kubera, lord of wealth, protector of the physical world. He lounges with piles of gold around him. In one hand he holds a mongoose, who is said to spit jewels. The mongoose shows rule over the Naga (malevolent snake people and guardians to vast treasure). Kubera is shown seated on his vehicle, a large beast atop a lotus pod throne.

This is a truly rare and fabulous Satsuma Vase. It was made for the Japanese Imperial family. It has been in a private collection for decades. On one side all the blossoming flowers have raised relief enamel work. The gold detailing on this vase is as fine as we have ever seen. Unique glossy deep green ground on each panel. Quirky shallow bowls enclosed in pewter. The original blank dishes were imported from Japan and then decorated in Hong Kong. By the 1980s this trade died out due to rising property costs as well as the transitioning of the Hong Kong manufacturing sector to China. This pair is in excellent condition and perfectly matched with floral panels and medallions. These are also the only examples I have seen jacketed in pewter. D: 17cm/6.9in and H: 4cm/1.6in.
