African Ceremonial ritual wooden drum (Pinge), Senufo people, African Ivory Coast (Cote d'Ivoire), Korhogo region. Circa 1920-1950.
Entirely carved from one piece of wood, the sculpted figure depicting a bare breasted regal woman, seated on a stool, with upraised arms, an arched back, and a strong neck, gracefully supporting and balancing a drum on her head.
The drum is carved in low relief with symbols representing various animals, including crocodiles...
Japanese iron teapot, or tetsubin, all hand-cast iron in the shape of a Japanese house. The teapot is adorned with leaves and gourds on a thatched roof.

A Chinese, Jizhou kiln, bowl with an abstract ash-splashed decoration to the interior. Southern Song; C12-13th. The variagated, brown glaze stops above the well-cutt foot, exposing the pale-buff coloured paste.
Diameter, 11 cm.
Provenance: from the deceased estate of a North Yorkshire collector; acquired in China in the first half of the C20th.
Condition: There is an old area of repair to the inner rim; approx 2 cm long...

A pair of antique Chinese blue and white Porcelain Dragon vases Qing Dynasty (1644-1911 A.D.) of baluster form with a flared neck, made of excellent quality semi-transparent white porcelain.
Each is decorated with a finely painted underglaze in a vibrant tone of cobalt blue, with a five-clawed scaly dragon amidst flames and the clouds.
The lower parts near the base are painted with foaming waves and rocks. One of the vases has an Qiulong horned dragon painted above foaming waves...
Statue of a taoist dignitary, in formal attire, standing on an elevated hexagonal base on which a relief representing a reclining animal is carved. Two votive boxes at the back, both with missing lid. China, Ming Dynasty period. The statue is mounted on a stand. height (without stand): 31,5 cm. A few missing parts at the lower side of the base and at the back of the head, with no real damage to the general aspect of the statue, otherwise very good condition.

A wildly crafted bronze image of a shishi lion breathing out a cloud forming the basin for a flower arrangement (known as an usubata). The curly hair has been somehow flaked off and maintained during the casting process, quite an exceptional example. The basin can be removed from the mouth of the creature. Assembled it is 32 x 28 x 33 cm tall (12-3/4 x 11-1/4 x 13 inches) and weighs 4390 grams (9.5 pounds). It is in fine original condition.
