An antique 17th-century Islamic, Tatar sword-saber Ordynka, mounted with a 16th-century European Italian blade.

The sword's hilt has a finely hand-carved hardwood grip, with beautiful natural grains, and a small pistol-shaped pommel. The brass crossguard has short, slightly downturned quillons, bud-shaped terminals, and a pair of langets. It is made of two halves riveted by iron pins at the terminals. Three iron rivets secure the wooden grip and the crossguard to the tang of the blade...

An ancient Egyptian Scaraboid, more than 2,300 years old, from the famous Mitry collection (see our Homepage). It is 3/8” long (9 mm) and made of steatite, an easy-to-carve stone that hardens when heated. Scarabs empowered life and resurrection and were often placed under mummy wrappings to protect the body and to help it resurrect. This Scarab comes in a jewelry display cup.

Tiny repairs of gold glint along the rim of this misshapen wan-gata bowl from the Utsutsukawa tradition of Nagasaki. The bowl comes with a silk pouch enclosed in an old wooden box. There is a kutsuki on one side, where it adhered to something else in the kiln. The bowl is 12 x 10.5 x 6.5 cm (4-3/4 x 4-1/8 x 2-1/2 inches) and is in overall fine condition, dating from the 19th century.
Utsutsukawa-yaki originated in Nagasaki in the late 17th century...

Antique Japanese hanging scroll of a tagasago married couple playfully playing with a rake by the swirling seaside. Full of Charm piece with great movement and wonderful detail. Meiji 1868-1912. It measures overall 35" by 53" image: 31" by 27".

At various times over the long history of tea practice in Japan, Korean-ware has come into high fashion and ships full of the finest ceramics from the neighboring country were brought to its shores. Such pieces have long been favored by learned cha-jin (tea people); and, older pieces such as this are quite prized today as relatively few from this era have survived in such good condition...

This is a great old satsuma piece from the Meiji era. The detail on this vase is amazing. Especially so, is the side with all the separate scenes in the 21 cartouches. Condition is excellent and the piece is almost like new. The vase stands 4 5/8 tall and is just under 4 inches wide.

This is an very fine Japanese Netsuke hand-carved during the Meiji Period of Japan by Ruygetsu. It depicts a Peasant holding a basket with fruits and vegetables, while pleasurably (notice his smile) smoking a pipe. Unusual 19th century Indian votive bronze bell with handle in a shape of monkey God Hanuman with his hands in front of him in praying attitude, his tail forming a halo around his head. Japanese "zelkova" (keyaki) wood Yonezawa style two-section tansu with round iron lock plates engraved in a butterfly motif and rimmed with a thin band of silvery "hakudo" (nickel alloy). "Mokko" (melon style) drawer pulls and four side carrying handles. Circa 1880. 38"H x 38 3/4"W x 17 1/2"D. The tansu is in very good sturdy condition and has the original lacquered finish. Antique Chinese Qing Dynasty (1644-1911 A.D.) blue and white Porcelain vase of baluster form with a flared neck, finely hand painted underglaze in a vibrant tone of cobalt blue, with 10 writhing five-clawed horned dragons chasing flaming pearls amidst flames and the clouds. the base, painted in underglaze blue with a six-character mark.

Antique Chinese porcelain brush washer, with ocean landscape scenes of boats on the water, and inscription on the backside with red chop. The foot is slightly recessed with unusual red mark. The brush washer is of a round form with flattened base and a wide mouth with a very short lip.

This is an antique Tibetan portable altar table used by a high lama to perform ritual ceremonies and prayers. It is decorated with curtain front cut-out panels that have a central snow lion carving and it is surrounded by beautiful articulated cloud formation. On the outer frame, it has a pho bamboo carving and beyond that is a scrolling lotus motif. Straight down the front, there is an inverted foot with a key fret pattern based with a horse hoof buffer.
