This Japanese red lacquered wooden serving platter or tray is 13 inches in diameter. It is carved as a bream, which is the Japanese fish symbol for the "bounty of the sea". There are several layers of different colors of red lacquer which heighten the fluid appearence of the fish. The surface is slightly dulled with use and age, the charger is in wonderful condition.

This is a small and beautiful bronze censer in lotus shaped. It has the Great Ming Xuande Seal mark, but circa 19th Century.

Description:

A Yaozhou covered jar was in fantastic look.
It was well carved with floral motifs on the surface.
In characteristically yellowish green tint of the glaze, the ware was revealed with the also characteristic beige body clay.
Obvious incursions were happened to the glaze in foggy look.
One manufacturing defect was found at the foot ring.
Otherwise, it was in perfect condition without any restorations,.

A large and very expressive, ceramic figure of sitting shishi, lion-dog, with turned head. It is covered in a creamy, white crackled glaze. The open, staring eyes made of inserted glass are rendered with gold. Unsigned. Japan, late Edo, before 1850. H. 35 cm, L. 25 cm, W. 16 cm. Condition: good, but for a few chips, fire cracks and minor area of repair on underside.

Large Japanese antique bronze vase with mixed metal overlay of resting geese, with incised etchings of reeds and rippling water. Beautifully rendered in silver, copper and gold. Signed with cartouche.

A very nice Japanese, Meiji Period (1868-1911) drum form Satsuma lidded box with two faux molded handles to the sides. The exterior and interior of box and lid each are decorated with scenes. Signed on bottom, it measures 5.5 inches diameter, 3" high.

A Chinese, qingbai glazed, bowl with incised decoration of boys amongst floral scrolls; Southern Song dynasty. The glaze is an attractive pale bluish-green colour. Diameter, 20 cm. Provenance: From the Hurdle collection of early Chinese ceramics. Condition: A couple of short tight hairlines eminating from the rim. Some age related wear.

Chogappo made of fragments of ramie which is recycled from old textiles. Pojagi is the general name for the wrapping cloth and "chogappo" is one kind of pojagi which is patchworked with asa (choma or hemp) fragments. (Reference source: "Korean Embroidery and Wrapping Cloths from the Choson Dynasty" published by Japan Art & Culture Association in 1995). Hemp or ramie ones are for wrapping summer clothing. This is a 19th century made bottle of a thick Bulbous rectangular form with rounded edges, thick straight neck, wide lips and mouth, and recessed oval footing. The well-hollowed bottle has been made in imitation of Realgar, with its mottled shades of red and orange in erratic nebulous forms. Its form was commonly used in the 19th century, and its illustrated in the 'Collector's Bood of Snuff Bottles', item #165, page 65. It comes with a blue aventurine stopper with metal collar...

Antique Japanese yogi, thickly woven cotton, trimmed and lined with dark aizome (Japanese blue dye). There is a opening in the center of the liner where the cotton wadding was taken out. Excellent condition (old but new). The accent piece (dyed in Katazome, stencil dye) on the collar and shoulder area were added (remove and wash purpose) and slightly soiled.
