Neolithic era ceramic amphora, Yangshao Culture, Yellow River area, China. This baluster form vessel is made with a narrow neck and slightly flared rim. High shoulders taper downward to a narrow foot. Two strap handles are attached just below the center of the body. Painted with geometric patterns in red and black mineral pigments.

Cut iron tsuba. Decor of dragons and sacred pearls. Inside the beads, tiny iron balls are mobile. The style is called Namban. This kind of tsuba is little represented without however being rare. But the model presented here is exceptionally of excellent quality. Indeed the blacksmith has cut out his pattern excessively finely like an iron lace. We do not know of a model with such thin wires cut at the extreme limit of the constraints of the metal...

Antique Chinese Pao Tao Peking rug, hand-woven in dark blue, grey, pink, red, green, and brown colors, with five medallions depicting auspicious scholar objects surrounding a large central image of a deer standing below a perching crane. A small Shigaraki pottery urn of very rough clay dating from the 16th century covered in thin natural ash glaze. Beautiful antique Chinese sleeveless robe with bright green ribbon closure, made of light pink silk with a robin's egg blue silk interior lining. Both the front and back of the robe features gold thread circular designs with two young maidens relaxing, surrounded by flowers. The vest is outlined in light golden-beige panels with colorful birds, deer, and vegetation. Size: 36.5" tall, 28.75" wide

Small Satsuma earthenware incense burner in the shape of a cricket cage. Technically complex openwork work with results that are still uncertain, the fine bars of the cage have survived the test of fire without damage, then that of handling for more than 100 years. Today the object is in excellent condition. Below the mark of the Satsuma and the name Hattori who was one of the best ceramic painters of his time., allowing a precise dating. We can, on request, find out who it is. Height 14cm.

Antique Japanese ikebana basket. Wild and natural appearance with gnarled wisteria branches making up the frame of the basket including a tall arching handle. The small, neatly woven body of the basket is made of split bamboo and is nestled between the knotted wisteria branches.

Signed Late 19th Century Meiji Period Japanese Noh Mask of the jealous female spirit, Hannya. One of the most famous of Noh Masks, sought after by serious collectors. One of the best examples we have offered. It is finely carved and painted, the expression is fantastic, and all the details and patina are wonderful. 10h x 6w inches, 25.5h x 15.5w cm.

The two-tiered round mochi(round rice cake) called "Kagami-mochi",Ise lobster, bitter orange and green leaves. Painted with ink and pigments on paper. Sealed. The piece has been restored and remounted with beautiful old silk fabric, and futai tassels have been also reused from the old piece. It is inscribed Motonobu on the lid of the storage box.

The subject depicted is an offering made to welcome the New Year's god "Toshigami", and all of the decorations have a meaning...

Chinese antique wool Pau Tau rug with woven together in a whimsical pictorial composition of a flying crane, deer, and an exaggerated large peony. The Peony is shy and is hiding amongst the craggily rock formation, reminiscent of a Taihu stone.
