An antique Japanese Katana Tansu (sword chest) made entirely of Suginoki (Cryptomeria) wood. All original hand made iron fittings including the Hirute drawer handles. Some loss to the metal commensurate with its age. Large top drawer stored the Katana, medium drawer stored the Wakazashi and the small drawer stored the polishing tools and extra hardware.

This early 20th century large export carved ivory goddess of mercy (GuanYin) is 18” high (with carved wood stand it is 20 ½” high), 4” wide and 3” thick (measured from the base). Her right hand holds a branch of willow leaves; her left hand carries a basket filled with lotus blossoms. A phoenix is standing on her side and a tiny sitting Buddha with a fire halo is in her dark, braided hair. There is an honorable Qian Long mark carved on the bottom. It is in excellent condition.

Netsuké carved in stag antler or deer horn,very simple but compact in shape and with a very nice patina. Very pleasant to hold in the palm of the hand. It represents a Chinese child lying on a drum. For the Chinese New Year the children drummed to cast out demons. Probably our little boy is resting on his drum after having accomplished his mission?

This remarkable artifact is an ancient Greek Mycenaean-type bronze spearhead that dates back to the Bronze Age, circa 1500 B.C. The spearhead showcases a narrow, leaf-shaped blade that was expertly crafted to ensure its sharpness and durability. Antique Chinese bronze hanging bell with beautiful casting and patina. It hangs by a hook shaped as a two-headed serpent, and its sides are decorated with phoenixes (fenghuang in Chinese, ho-o in Japanese) flying with their head downwards and their long, beautiful tail feathers floating up and over their bodies. The phoenix is a bird of the Sun, so a small Sun adorns two sides of the bell, along with curling motif running along the bottom.

Antique pair of Thai male attendants (Nats), finely rendered out of teak wood, with polychrome traces of pigments. These funerary effigies would be kept close to an ancestral altar in order to help lead their spirits into the afterlife. A Chinese bronze two-handled vase cast in relief with mountains, masks and ribbons, 28 cms., Song/Yuan dynasty, 12th/13th century.
Unusually large for a vase of this type, it has had the base plate removed and put back, like many such vases for some reason.

This is a finely carved Large Early 19th century Japanese Netsuke depicting Fukurokuju, one of the Seven Gods of Fortune, the God of Wealth and Longevity, holding a staff on his left hand. He has two Karakos by his side. One of them, is holding tightly to his right leg. Excellent detail and expression. Large uneven himotoshi, common of netsuke carved during the Edo period of Japan.

A large impressive figure of a Phoenix standing on a treetrunk growing with Lingzhi fungus. Provenance : Old German collection. A Chinese celadon-glazed porcelain vase with shape of an ancient cong, decorated with eight trigrams (bagua) on all four sides of the vase. A six-characters "Daqing Tongzhi Nianzhi" mark is inside the foot rim, and of the period.
