For women of indigenous cultures, sewing needles were often hard to come by and considered valuable tools. Commonly, among such groups, cases were specifically designed to protect and safeguard the sewing. This particular antique silver needle case is from the Chinese Miao ethnic minority group and would have been worn by the women as a decorative costume ornament during festival.

Incredible highly detailed hand carved Japanese temple ranma (transom carving). Carved of a solid thick slab of hinoki (Japanese cypress) wood. Depicting a pair of beautiful musical apsaras (celestial beings), floating in a elaborate swirling clouds. Each figure is adorned with a head dress and whimsical flowing dress. Miniature Burmese bronze buddha sitting in Mara Vijaya (calling the earth to witness) posture on a base, with meditative facial expression, emphasized by the half-closed eyes which look downward. Trace of original gilding remains in good condition.

This porcelain serving dish was produced in Germany by Hutschenreuther in 1918. The porcelain was made at the KPM Royal Berlin factory and hand painted by Hutschenreuther. There are marks from both of the factories on the bottom. The dish is 17 1/4 inches long, 6 1/4 inches wide and 4 1/4 inches high at the handle. The dish has a handle and is separated into two sections. The porcelain is masterfully sculpted with ornamental elements that look like gilded bronze...

Carved from Rosewood, on one side, this Chinese toggle has a wooded scene with a horse and pair of deer. On the reverse side is the symbol for longevity. Toggle is 1.5 inches x 1.25 inches

Produced in the late 1800's, this historical Venetian glass vase is constructed with filigrana reticello and filigrana retortoli (zanfrico)with aventurine. Similar design can be found in Rossella Juncks' "the Colors of Murano in the XIX Century", page 136. Diminutive in size at 3"h x 2.5"w, this historical vase is in excellent condition, unmarked.

This beautiful Eden point was found in Oregon. It is made from multi-colored petrified bog wood. It has short flutes on both sides. It has a medium ridge on both faces and a ground base. Parallel flaking. It is 2 3/4" long. There is no damage on this point at all. Very fine flaking and an early point. G-10. Purchased from Richard E. Bachman. This set of 8 porcelain bouillon cups and saucers was produced in Germany by Wolfsohn Dresden in the late 19th century. The porcelain blanks were made by the Ohme Factory in Silesia, Germany and sold white ware to the Wolfsohn factory for decoration. The porcelain blanks are extremely delicate and translucent. They have a swirl pattern molded into them with the saucers being scalloped on the rims. The cups have two handles. The decoration is all hand painted...
