The Chinese god of longevity is depicted standing holding a peach branch laden with fruit in his left hand. The peach is the symbol of immortality. The artist has represented Shoulao slightly bent by the weight of his years, his gait is hesitant and his step seems reduced and slow. The left arm rests on the kidneys to relieve the pain. The details are finely sculpted, the hairs of the beard are precisely incised. The facial expression is well rendered...

Near perfect pair of fuschia colored silk Chinese lotus shoes for bound feet. Each shoe is embroidered with delicate gold couching and a silk satin stitched butterfly. In excellent condition they have been packed and stored in a box for the past century. Color is vibrant having not been exposed to sunlight.

Nice little teapot in satzuma earthenware. Decorated with a landscape of madarin ducks, symbol of marital happiness. Original handle in woven bamboo fibre. Signature of the artist, I did not look for it but I can do it on request. Perfect condition. Width about: 11cm

Three small differently shaped Iranian women's pouches. Made of termeh wool fabric with boteh or floral motifs, partially embellished with embroidery or gold braids. Two with printed cotton "qalamkar" and one with monochrome silk lining. Lovely 84 standard silver pickle fork with traditional engraved decoration on both the front and back of the handle, and on the back of the tines. Fully hallmarked for Moscow, 1895. The assayer's mark is that of A. Sevyer. The maker's mark is "NA" (transliterated).

Massive Japanese Taisho period bronze jardinière cast with four lobes in high relief with chidori (Japanese sparrows) perched on or flying among flowering cherry branches. A lappet band extends around the circumference where the top of the incurving shoulder meets the short, straight neck with everted rim. The ovoid form body rests on a splayed base. Measures about 16” high by 20” diameter and weighs 26 lbs. Early 20th century. Very good overall condition with good patina...

A nice black lacquered table chest with a floral painting on the front panel and top panel.All original hardware. Age: Mid 19th century. Size: L. 37.5cm, W. 22cm, H. 18cm. Condition: No repairs. Normal ageing.

These 6 porcelain demitasse cups and saucers were produced in Germany by Meissen in the 1890s. They have first quality crossed swords marks under the glaze. The saucers are 4 inches in diameter. The cups are 2 inches tall with a diameter of 2 1/2 inches. The cups feature a split branch twist handle. Each piece is decorated with hand painted sprigs of tiny flowers. They are accompanied by tiny bugs, painted in color and in gold. There are gilded accents to the flowers...

Very well crafted Chinese lacquer cinnabar box, exterior of the box is decorated with floral and geometrical designs, length of box is 7 inches with width of 3.1 inches, from late 19th century period. Condition of the box is consistent with the age.

There are a total of eight signs, each with a different "saying" having to do with well wishes. Due to the age of the calligraphy, and the vagueres of the old Chinese language, accurate translations have not been possible for each sign. Each sign is carved out of wood with raised wooden characters and inlayed with MOP flakes. Each is 21 inches tall and roughly 4.5 inches wide. Beautiful Chinese antique tray made of intricately carved red cinnabar with carved black lacquer overlay, the red lacquer is carved in a tiny patterned background while the black lacquer is carved as a scene of scholars in a garden setting with black mountains rising on the other side of a carved cinnabar lake, the edges are carved with flowers and bats, stands on four small feet, late 19th century. This pair of earmuffs are kept together with a silk ribbon. Worn to protect the ears in winter, the outer side has delicate embroidered flower motif, and the inside is slightly padded and has ear pockets which slip of the ears.
