Chinese antique sewing table, black lacquer with beautiful and ornate gold lacquer designs depicting scenes of palace life, interior has many little places for organizing sewing materials all lacquered in black and gold with bone details, a pull out lacquer and silk area underneath for storing embroidery supplies, claw feet, with key, 18th/19th century. An antique Japanese Katana Tansu (sword storage chest) made of Kiri (Paulownia) wood. All original hand forged iron hardware including the Warabite style handles. Side handles for ease of carrying. Large drawer used to store the Katana while the medium drawer stored the Wakizashi. The small drawer stored the sharpening and cleaning supplies for the weapons.

19th century wooden netsuke of standing Saigyo Hoshi with his attributes of a large hat and a staff as he looks upward toward the summit of Mount Fuji. Saigyo Hoshi was a member of the Fujiwara clan, a poet and a priest, as well as a military advisor to the Shogun Yoritomo. Netsuke is beautifully carved out of kurogaki (black persimmon wood) with excellent face and wonderful flow to the lines of the robe. Wear consistent with age, beautiful characteristic sheen to the surface it the wood...

An antique six panel Chinese coromandel screen with motif of birds and flowers inlaid with mother of pearl and semi precious stones. This style of screen emerged during the Ming dynasty in China and has been favored in Europe for centuries. Each element of detail has been masterfully rendered. 19th century miniature Hirado porcelain sculpture of a karako (Chinese boy) lying on his back, the upper part of his body raised up. Could have been used as a brushrest. Excellent crisp modeling with incised details - see his wonderful face, well defined hands and clothing details. Beautiful glaze with numerous tiny bubbles giving it depth, unglazed bottom, in excellent condition, very pleasant to the touch. Typical Hirado underglaze blue and brown highlights.
