A nice repousse silver box from Burma. A beautiful carving of a bust of a woman on the lid. A leaf design surrounding the body of the box.

An ornate silver betel box with open-work patterns of curling tendrils. The body and lid each have five panels with high relief work depicting 10 different scenes of ancient Burma. The top of the domed lid has a lotus blossom. The bottom is hammered with the date and occasion for the piece.

An ivory snuff bottle in the form of of an attractive lady of status carrying a fan. The head can be removed to reveal the snuff. Probably Japanese work for the Chinese market at the end of the 19th century.

A Chinese white porcelain snuff bottle, probably Dehua, known in the West as ‘Blanc de Chine’. The moulded body, each side decorated with a central roundel of flowers surrounded with a pair of bats and a Shou character. The stopper, missing its spoon, appears to be faded purple stained soapstone. The thin body is very translucent and inside there are traces of former contents.

Wonderful potting with great facial expression and well delineated feathers, beautiful crackled glaze, red and black enamels. Bottom shows the seal of the potter. Wonderful piece in Japanese taste. Late Meiji Japanese good size ceramic suiteki (water dropper for diluting ink used in painting and calligraphy) that can also serve as a brushrest, modeled as a large and a small pine cones growing together. Clever design, holes on top of cones for filling and dispensing water, very nice depiction of cone texture, brown glaze with gold enamel over it, in excellent condition. Marked with potter’s stamp on the bottom, appears to read SHUNZAN, but I am not entirely sure...

A rather unusual glazed Chinese yixing tea pot. Traditionally, mixing tea posts are unglazed and this pot combines unglazed sections, such as the interior and the glazes that encompass the exterior side of the pot. The pot contains a seal on both the undersides of the lid and pot, of the maker attributing to Zhao Jingnan. Zhao Jingnan was a noted artist specializing in producing fixing and zhisha tea wares during the Qing Dynasty...
