Antique Japanese Lacquer arrow (ya) case. Mounted archery was the primary and most respected mode of Japanese warfare until the introduction of firearms in the 16th century. As a reflection of this, archery equipment was beautifully crafted of formed bamboo, lacquer work, and leather strapping. Decoration of blooming cherry blossoms "sakura fabuki" accented in gold lacquer.

A charming tinsel (foil) painting depicting a variety of flowers in an urn placed on a stone slab. Dating from the last half of the 19th century, the painted frame, worth a bit of money on its own, is likely earlier, with a wood backboard The painting is in fine condition, with only some very small minor speckles in the black background. The frame could use a little spiffing up. Sight size is 9 1/2" by 13 1/2", and the framed size is 13 1/4" by 17 1/8".

Pair Chinese Hardwood Display Shelves/Stands, Ca early 1900's, 21" high, 31" wide, 7" deep each, very heavy dense Hardwood shelves with rounded corners, for the Scholar's display purpose for their precious small objects. Multiple shelves are between 4" to 10" high and 5" to 19" wide. It is very difficult to find a pair in this quality and condition. The weight is heavy and the condition is good.

This is a fine, 18th century Japanese Netsuke depicting a monk laying on top of Hotei's Bag of Treasures. Wonderful expression with beautiful patina, what has torn golden from use on the bottom. Unsigned. Netsuke measures 1.88 inches (4.8cm) wide, 1.22 inches (3.1cm) deep, and, 0.92 inches (2.4cm) tall. It is in excellent condition.
