Unusual 19th century kagamibuta (“mirror lid”) netsuke with copper bowl and mixed metal top depicting a tiger on rocks with bamboo grass and a dragon holding a Precious Gem in flight among swirling clouds: the two appear ready to engage in a fight. Very nice pairing of the most powerful Zodiac animals, bronze disc with gilding, eyes of both beasts are inlaid with shakudo with its characteristic strong black color...

An attractive and rare Bronze Elephant Bell with intricate relief design on both sides. Has a clapper to make loud and sonorous sound when in motion. Good condition and has a beautiful patina! Late 19th century brass whale oil lamp featuring a very unusual footed base with a delicately decorated edge. Has a chain for which to add a wick trimmer, snuffer, or other accoutrement. A wonderful piece for the collector, it is very good condition. Measures 19" high and 6.5 " square at the base.

This pair of crystal candlesticks was produced in Europe or England in the late 19th century. The maker is unknown. They are approximately 10 inches tall and the base has a diameter of 5 inches. The crystal is hand blown so that the candlesticks are hollow. They are hand cut with geometric patterns. The edges are beveled and the contoured shape has cut panels. The color is deep amber. They are tasteful and elegant. Condition: Excellent

Antique Japanese gyosho bako (peddler's chest for a traveling salesman). Made with sugi (cryptomeria - cypress) wood on the outside and kiri (paulownia) wood on the inside, this box would have been light enough to carry. The single door opens to reveal a series of 10 light weight stacking trays which slide out like drawers. Each is marked with a character in light ink for organization. There is also an exterior drawer with a round iron lock and square handle...

Clearly for a wealthy family, this small lamp was meant to be used as a personal light. The cat like figure has a filler hole between the ears, good weight (important for stability) and is silver in color, but exact metal content is not known...He/she is charming...4 inches x 3.5 inches wide and 1.5 inches deep...

Beautiful Japanese keyaki wood zeni bako, or money box, the top of which has a handled door with three studded iron hinges and flower-shaped lockpin, and thin iron slot for depositing money, dropping into a small drawer with an iron lockplate. This is a very fine pair of Spinach Jade Birds perching on a tree branch that is nested on a carved wood stand. The artisan has taken advantage of the jade skin to highlight certain areas, such as the lightest (celadon) color for their peaks, the darkest (spinach) for their body, and mottle portion of the stone for the birds tails...

A nahi-ji and maki-e decorated wood lacquered lidded sake pourer (Hisage). The interior is in red lacquer. It is equipped of a sheath for the spout. Tokugawa and Daigo mons (emblems) are represented on the lid, the extremity of the sheath, the handle and the two sides of the pourer.

Sakes pourers (Hisage) are traditional pitchers intended for sake (“rice beer”) service...
