The artist has represented a standing character, leaning on a broom, with a blissful and amused expression on his face turned towards the sky. This is probably Shih Te, a mischievous young Chinese monk who, according to legend, lived in the Kwo-Ching-Su temple in China during the Tang period around the 9th century. He is always represented with a broom because he was employed in the maintenance of the temple...

Well crafted Persian silver bowl featuring floral design at the center and followed by a circular band of very fine and slightly raised calligraphy and finally a band of geometric design, bearing artist's initial and 90 fine silver mark to the base, from late 19th/early 20th century period. A fine seji, celadon, and sometsuke style dish. In the early eighteenth century it would appear that this style of decoration was the preserve of the Nabeshima kiln. However in the Kyoho era during the Shogunates economy drive this style of porcelain was largely replaced with sometsuke patterns...
Lovely antique garden shears, circa 1915. They are silver plate made by the Clauss Co. of Fremont Ohio. They are 6.5" long and 2.5" at their widest (when closed). They have a nice rose motif.
A Large Frank Whiting Sterling Silver Water Pitcher. Given to F. R. Estabrook of Harvard on September 9, 1912 (possibly his wedding date as there is a pennant for 1910 in the Harvard Crest); engraved with his name, the names of 16 other gentlemen, a Harvard Crest with Estabrook's name over it in a ribbon and what looks to be a fraternity or club logo (a triangle with an owl and Greek letters; Phi, Delta, Psi, the original name for the Owl Club, one of the eight final clubs at Harvard)...
A Chinese mirror with a jade belt hook forming its handle and mounted on its back with a panel of white metal embossed with dragon and clouds. The jade is of dark celadon color and is of substantial size of 12 cm long and excellently carved . Each side decorated in iron-red with Zhong Kui, on one main side the bearded, wild-eyed "Demon Queller" is shown dressed as a warrior and brandishing his sword, on the other main side he is shown dressed as a scholar and holding a closed folding-fan in his right hand. Daoguang period. Coral stopper.

An interesting namasu, serving dish or bowl, decorated entirely with green, aubergine, yellow, black and red enamels. A palette and style of decoration not dissimilar to that used in the mid seventeenth century that covers the whole of the interior of a dish with enamel decoration. In this case the enamelling disguises an unglazed ring to the interior of the bowl that would have enabled another dish to be stacked on it in the saggar...

These four bone pins were all purchased from Tom Davis many years ago. The first is a very rare Fox Field effigy. The second is an awl/pin that has patinized in a way that is totally unique. The third is an engraved/drilled arrow effigy found by Sonny Atkinson, only three known to exist. It is 8" long. The fourth is another Fox Field effigy. These are top-shelf authentic bone artifacts. A Chinese jade vase of spinach hue with darker splashes; it is carved on both sides of the body with flower head scrolls, the shoulders are decorated with elephant heads and mobile rings. The cover terminates with a knob carved in a fluted design. Beautifully carved and in excellent condition, this is a highly impressive and decorative object. size: 10 1/2 inches ( 26.5cm) high. age: late Qing/early Republic.
