A black bird sporting a tufted beak shelters among the thick foliage of fresh bamboo by the easily identifiable and quite rare artist Sakakibara Shiho performed with pigment on silk in the original signed double wood box titled Mosochiku Hakkacho (Crested Myna Bird in Moso Bamboo), a favorite motif by the artist dating from the Taisho period. Writing box in lacquer imitating an ink stone. Fun and very rare item. The box in the shape of a gourd with its stem, its leaves and its flower, it is in green, brown and golden brown lacquered wood. The interior has a small receptacle representing a red gourd. The details are of high quality as can be admired on the perfect execution of the leaves. Chinese Ming dynasty zhangzhou swatow large dish decorated with blue and white ship, whale, birds and flowers. 47,2 cm diameter. Dish in original good condition. Free from any repair. except has original fault from the kiln (please see on the pictures).

This is a beautiful complex wire and wireless Japanese cloisonne vase. Though it is not signed, it was made by Gonda Hirosuke during the Meiji Era, circa 1910. All pieces like this we ever seen signed have been signed Gonda. Very few of these wireless fish vases were made by Gonda.
The vase is in excellent condition and has silver rims. It was created before Japan began stamping rims with the "jun gin' silver mark in the early 1900's. It stands 7 inches tall and is 7 inches wide.

Half cylinder shaped (Hanzutsu) tea bowl with a rounded brim, in the typical hand built style of the Raku family. The body is fully covered with a white engobe before the red glaze was applied.

Antique Chinese Ming Dynasty porcelain plate with celadon glaze decorated with a molded raised pair of raised fish in the center. The underside of the plate has a raised lotus motif with petals radiating out from the unglazed foot. The twin fish is an auspicious symbol representing harmonious marriage and good fortune.

A sublime calligraphy scroll having a Chinese attribution. The rough and swift strokes of the calligraphy can be seen as if movement is caught frozen in time. The calligraphy reads as an auspicious poem where the poet is using the flow of water in relation to the spread and development of the family with generation after generation of children.
