Chinese Scholar’s two-tier solid rosewood stand with carved boxwood edges. Produced in the 1950s, this is actually a copy of a 17th - early 18th century style that was made of zitan and edged in boxwood. A strong stand that will hold your heaviest object, the pieces were machine made with rough carvings, hand assembled (pegged and glued), and then hand finished and polished. In excellent condition, the stand measures 12” long x 7.25" wide x 4” high.

Chinese blanc de chine porcelain figure of the bodhisattva of compassion Quan Yin. She is sculpted lounging against an armrest with a lion's face. One of her delicate hands is emerged out from her robes, clutching a sutra scroll. The bodhisattva is easily identified by her large ear lobes and protruding third eye, attributes of an immortal being. Her backside is signed with a chop and a gourd shaped signature.

A Chinese shoushan seal carved in its natural form. On one side it shows a man riding a donkey, with another kneeling gathering items under a large tree. The reverse reveals a home in the distance. On this side, there is also a four character carved mark. This seal is carved all around using its natural colours and striations for features within the carving. The base holds the seal. The large earthenware female figure wearing long robe with traces of paint . The figure has an open side from when the artisan finished the figure and cut off too much clay in the trimming process. No damage or restoration h. 13.75" w 4" . Very rare this large. Intact. This came from a 1920s collection of a French Canadian engineer doing rail road work in China at the time.

Beautiful mother of pearl inlaid in hardwood. The arms are inlaid with a scroll design. The back of the chair is inlaid with an elegant battle scene with men on horseback and a fort. The reverse of the chair is inlaid with flowers. The seat has 4 petal pattern at each corner. The legs, arms, and frame of the chair are beautifully carved with bats, plums and a scrolling pattern. This is a very attractive Vintage Japanese cloisonne vase designed with a contemporary style or deco look. We have never seen another like it. The vase is rather large and is signed Sato. It stands 7 1/2 tall and is 8 1/2 inches wide. It is in excellent condition with only a little pitting on the bottom rim. This is probably the finest cloisonne example we have seen produced from this company.

They call themselves Kutep or Kutev, the denomination Djombre - which means cannibals - has probably been given to them by the neighbouring Chamba.

A fine Japanese antique Satsuma tripod koro with lid. Decorated on one side with a group of children playing and on the other side a garden scene with flowers against a fence. The domed cover decorated the same with a seated foo dog finial resting on a ball. Resting on three animal head legs. All highlighted with gilt.
