Provenanced to an important collection, we offer a large selection of high-end wooden african figures, all with the original surfaces and elaborate carvings, most dating back to the 19th.-early 20th. century (c. 1880-1930)

A rare and impressive Nigerian hardwood feritility figure of a naked female, Igala, very early carving from the 19th. century.

A very artful style, caught with her arms at the side and fists clenching, decorated with a twin hairstyle and tribal tattoes incl a phallic design on the arms and a lizzard on the back.

Interesting early brass figure of the reclining Bull Nandi, Southern India, c. 18th. century.

A finely made figure, much older than most we've seen on the market.

Condition: Choice Very fine, smooth wear from use and polishing, redish patina inside, remnants of pigments.

A nice wooden mummy mask of a smaller size, probably late period, mid-late 1st. millenium BC.

Condition: Intact with smaller losses and much wear. Remnants of pigments still visible on the surface in recesses.

An interesting small collection of 9 bone carvings in the form of skulls, carved in the openwork, with lids at top and bottom, Tibetan c. 19th. century.

The group finely patinated and intact but some with loose lids. A set for ritual purposes.

Size: up to c. 3,3 cm. tall or less, but more of less of the same sizes.

An exceptionally detailed and fine style large bronze figure of pregnant woman, Eastern Java, Majapahit Empire, c. 13th.-15th. century AD.

The figure probably representing a Hindu female deity; she is firmly pressing her right breat and holding a sacrificial bowl in her left hand. Seated with loincloth and adorned with jewelry over her othervise naked body...

A very artfully done portrait of a woman with elaborate hairstyle, Eastern Javanese, Indonesia, Majapahit Empire, c. 12th.-15th. century.

A lovely head combining traditions of Hindu-Buddhist art with the fine regional Eastern javanese style.

Acorn top and having flat hammered stem and a round touchmark for London in the oval bowl.

A scarce and attractive laten spoon with figural top in an unusual condition with preserved gilding, English c. 1630.

The top with a half length female bust and having a wire ‘gulley’ down the flat and bevelled tapering stem and a round touchmark in the oval bowl. The touchmark unusually crisp with the three keys and the lettering for the maker in London.

Nice lot of two smaller buddha figures, Thailand and probably used inside amulets of shrines, c. 15th.-18th. cent. AD.

The larger buddha is probably from c. 18th. century but could be earlier, finely details, sukhothai style with nice old patina. The other excarvated and probably dating pre 16th. century at least if not medieval.

Size: c. 6 cm. tall for the larger and 5,1 cm. for the smaller.

A very beautiful and very large terracotta head of a young girl, Greece, Hellenistic period, c. 3rd.-2nd. century BC.

Exceptional details with the efeu wreath and elaborate headdress.

Condition: Very fine, partly corroded, but sound hard, ready to display.

A cute group of small bronze Erotic sculptures of mainly couples corpulating, India from the 19th. to mid 20th. cent.

Three figures are old and probably from the 19th. century. Great details and quality casting. Another is probably vitange in a brassy metal and primitive. Finally a green patinaed woman and a small guy with a large phallus (7).

Size: Largest figural group is 9,8 cm. long, the other group are 5-7 cm. long, the small guy is 5 cm. tall and the naked woman also...

An interesting antique bronze figure of Krishna dancing on serpent, cobra, Indian or Nepalese, perhaps c. 19th. century.

A high quality and large seated figure of a female Bodhisattva, Java, 9th-10th. cent.

The seated figure carved from volcanic rock, probably a type of very hard greyish-black andesit. The left arm holds a the low part of a tall flower which curls around the left wrist and the right arm rests in the lap in dhyana mudra. The legs are crossed in padmasana. An attractive large fishtail type of dagger, made in the late neolithic period, Daggertime-bronzeage, c. 2000-1600 BC.

A type with an elaborately knapped handle, stiched in the sides and full size for a grown hand. The blade chipped and resized in later periods. Looks originally like a type IV-V to us. Comes with with very old collection tags and another tag written directly in black ink - found at Sorø 1909!

A high quality specimen of broadbladed silex axes, imitating the celts of the early European bronzeage, made in South East Denmark, during Late Neolithic to early bronzeage periods, ca. 1800-1600 BC.

The axe is partly polished and with visible seams, in a wonderful completely calsified silex stone, so with a fine white patina and iron-oxide markings. Tagged 92 with old collection tags, and with the finding place and date 1885 in pencil - a very early provenance for these.

The axe is greyish patinated silex with fine fossils included. 19th. century paper tag on the undeveloped rear end as well as number in white ink.

An impressive polished greystone axe, from the great buriel mounts of Denmark, in the later 4th.-3rd. mill. BC.

The axe carved by micro-crushing and polishing the surface into the large curving broadsides towards the edge and butt. The axe with old tags, found at the island Lolland.

The axe was cat with a long ridge to secure it to the pole / shaft and out-swayed edge.

An attractive two-tone silex / flint axe of the unpolished type with small butt and a wide blade, Time of the Great Buriel mounts, c. later 4th. mill. BC.

A lovely and scarce Italian closed combat helmet, with eye slits a come or ridge and a hinge at the side; it also have a produding iron guard that could also function as sunscreen, c. 1580-1610.

An exceptional style more than lifesize stone head of a Buddhist Monk, Indonesia, java, c. 8th.-9th. century AD.

The head carved in Andesite in the wonderful style of early Borobadur with serene features. Downcast eyes and full lips with the prominent nose typical for early Buddhist art of Indonesia.

Size: c. 26 cm. tall and 19,5 cm. deep. It's weighing c. 12-14 kilograms.

Condition: Intact and lovely with a fine deep redish-grey patina and traces of weathering. ...
