This pair of crystal candlesticks was produced in Europe or England in the late 19th century. The maker is unknown. They are approximately 10 inches tall and the base has a diameter of 5 inches. The crystal is hand blown so that the candlesticks are hollow. They are hand cut with geometric patterns. The edges are beveled and the contoured shape has cut panels. The color is deep amber. They are tasteful and elegant.

Lovely sterling silver sugar tongs in an elegant pattern that seems more Georgian than Victorian. The tongs are of the finest quality and are large enough to be used as bonbon or ice tongs, as well as for sugar. The end has an attractive period “E” monogram. The inside is fully hallmarked for London, 1845-46, and also has the Victoria duty mark. The maker’s mark is “SH/DC”.

A Chinese snuff bottle made of snowflake glass, with red overlay. Both sides with a carved and engraved chilong-dragon. The stopper is made from green glass and a bone spoon. Condition: the stopper eventually not original, traces of usage, bottle inside with some snuff residue. Dimension: c. 8.3 cm high.
Fan-shaped kobako in lacquer. The kobako is decorated with autumn plants on sequined silver and gold. The inside and the circumference are in nashi-ji lacquer.

19th century Japanese iron mae-kanagu (tobacco pouch clasp fitting) in a form of a haboki - a feather brush used for swiping ashes during tea ceremony. Iron is notoriously difficult to work with. Excellent design, superb crisp detailing, gilded highlights. Length 1 7/8 inches.

A cast brass gong mounted in a Japanese style wooden frame. The two parts were joined together in Singapore where the stand was constructed out of Vietnamese wuali wood. The stand measures about 27 1/2" wide x 23 1/2" tall x 11" deep and dates to the 1980s. The bell measures about 13" in diameter x 5" deep and dates to the 19th Century or earlier. Japanese bamboo brush pot on three feet carved in sunken relief with the head of Zen patriarch Daruma, also known as Bodhidharma, holding a fly-whisk. Fly-whisks were carried by Buddhist priests to wave away flies which, according to Buddhist tenets, they could not kill. The fly-whisk is also a symbol of leadership.
