19th century marine material ball shaped ojime (slide bead for tightening the cord going from netsuke to inro) carved in the round with a praying mantis crouching among leaves and plants including a chrysanthemum and several hozuki (Chinese lantern fruit), central hole with terminals surrounded by carved florets. Wonderful carving, excellent staining, beautiful wear and warm patina. Height 5/8 inches.

Japanese candy apple red under-kimono with a simple, yet beautiful shibori style design of flowers. Shibori is a method of fabric dying in which bits of cloth are tied, sewn, folded, twisted, etc. to create patterns, similar to the Western method of tie-dye. Beautiful little antique French hinged box with blue enameling and gold gilt over bronze. Featuring a miniature portrait that is surrounded by ornate reticulation which in turn is accented with glass faux rubies and faux lapis lazuli. The blue enamel ground in the portrait matches the darker blue surround trim. Velvet lined, this makes a perfect little box to protect that special piece of jewelry. Measures 3 3/8" across, 2 3/4" deep, and 1 inch high. Dates circa 1880.

DESCRIPTION: A large and handsome Sumida Gawa vase with ribbed body, high relief figures and pinched neck. A thick, traditional flambe' glaze in dark brown and blue covers the mouth and neck, and flows down the shoulders. Fine attention to detail has been paid to the handmade figures of a boy and girl standing on ledges against the ribbed body. Inoue (Ryosai) maker's mark in pear-shaped appliqué on the back. Early 20th C. (pre WWII) and in perfect condition; no chips or repairs...

This is a very rare trans Paleo to early Archaic point dating to 10,500-9000 B.P. This is a large size arrow point that has long tip to base convex turning parallel sided blade edges that transition into drooping basal auricles. The basal edge is concave and the haft is ground. It has classic oblique transverse flaking and nice naturally aged patina with good sorbed deposits, hinge staining and authentic accumulations visible. It is made from a dark gray chert...

Aesthetic Japanesque compositions and molded design in contrasting colors, ochre and turquoise with crackle glaze effects. this old wooden storage box was clearly made in a folk art tradition by or for a lower ranking individual, possibly a traveling scribe, or low ranking official. Fully opened, it has compartments for brushes, ink sticks, chops and seals, etc. The numerous splotches of old ink stains on the outside of the box indicate extensive use, under not the tidiest of circumstances. Sourced in southern China year back, it is the only box of this style that I have ever seen...

A rare Musha Ningyo three piece set featuring Ojin, Kato Kiyomasa and Attendant, from the Late Edo Period of the 19th Century. It is very unusual to find a set like this in a complete state with all its accessories and original display stand. They all have great faces and sumptuous brocades.
