A spectacular First Period Worcester porcelain dish decorated by James Giles. The dish is quite large, at 9 1/4" in diameter, and is molded with an undulating border, wide fluting running from the edges to the recessed central scalloped area. The overall form is that of a soup dish, but it appears to be overly large for that. That area is decorated with three beautiful butterflies around a central flower sprig...

The head of Dionysos with almond-shaped eyes, a strong nose and a small mouth with pursed lips.
The broad beard with fine wavy strands. Undulated, slender moustache. The hairdo with strands of hair that end in curls, without the hair band above. Traces of red (carmine) pigment on the forehead and the beard.
Fine archaic style, excellent modeling. Mounted on an acrylic stand.

Antique Japanese iron tetsubin (tea kettle) decorated by raised flat areas of gaming tiles with engraved kanji, signed with artist's cartouche below the spout. Handle with figural pattern on body. 19th century Asakusa school staghorn netsuke in manju shape engraved with a falcon seated on a pine branch. Nicely made, clever use of natural texture and brown color of outside patches on an antler as parts of design. Porous center of the antler can be seen on the sides, very good patina. Diameter 1.4 inches.

An unique antique Japanese tansu of hinoki wood and iron hardware. It has the original patina with 10 drawers and a large top shelf. Dates from the Edo period.

Japanese folk art, farmer's clay doll: 13"h x 13 1/2"

This type of clay dolls are somehow all originated from the Fushimi clay doll of the Kyoto area. Fushimi dolls were originally sold as souvenirs to the pilgrims on the road of Fushimi Kaidou from Kyoto to Fushimi Inari Shrine in the early Edo period (1600-1868). By the end of 19th century, these dolls were made all over Japan...

Extremely nice qingbai dish of the Yuan Dynasty ( 1279 - 1368 ) This very fine and fragile dish is in a mint condition ! Diameter : 16,3 cm.

A rare 15th century Vietnamese annamese blue and white stecup in Yuan style motif, continuous flower motif at the exterior and Chinese character at inner center, stemcup in good condition with small chip at the rim please see picture for detail, size: 10.6 cm height, 9.5 cm diameter.

This interesting piece is from the Khmer Culture of Southeast Asia, dating to circa the 12th century AD. This piece has three individual parts that all fit together snugly and appear to be original as a set. There does appear to be a repair to one of the handles but both handles are still present. The diameter of the piece is a little over 15.5 cm and the weight of the entire set is 617 gram. This is quite an unusual set and would enhance any antiquities collection.

Wooden toad with long legs. In the Japanese bestiary, the toad has a special place, carrying positive values. Both the toad and the frog, called kaeru (蛙) return every year and regardless of the distance to the pond where they were born. The word kaeru is a synonym for "coming home". It is the protective animal for travelers and the symbol of hospitality...

This is a unique Chinese Trousse. The chopsticks are black wood, presumed to be Zitan and are totally enclosed inside the scabbard when the trousse is closed. Both the scabbard and knife handle are covered with tortoise shell and have silver fittings.
